Dallas Cowboy Cuts and Transactions***Merged***

Makes sense...why trade a player when you release him and get nothing.........................heck, there ain't to this GMing gig.....sign me up.

If someone was trying to trade for him while they was still uncertain about the Oline and during the time we were going through those injuries (Smith, Chaz and whoever else), no we couldn't afford to at that time.

We are never in the know of all the facts, data and info to know why they make certain decisions.

I'll go back to my regular job now of flipping burgers.

The trade for cornerback Bene Benwikere is the 149th of Jerry Jones' time with the Cowboys and the first he has ever conducted with the Cincinnati Bengals.

So now the defensive staff determines player acquisitions?

If so, its the same staff that had stiffs like nick hayden start for us for years, because they didnt value the 1-tech position.

And now, 2nd round picks arent big investments???
2nd round picks should be immediate starters. Where would this defense be, if Randy Gregory wasnt a bust and played to his potential?

You obviously dont understand the draft if you think 2nd round picks arent significant.

Lastly, you made @Pessimist_cowboy point when you mentioned the resources spent on the offense. This team isnt as good at scouting defensive talent as it is offensive, hence why most of our best players are on offense...

Randy Gregory wasn't a scouting issue as far as the player. I think he could've been a very good player.

I believe 2nd round picks are significant. They should be solid starters. I just don't think you can expect to turn a defense around by throwing a couple second round picks at it and expect a top 10 unit. We were a middle of the pack unit last season...which is what you expect given the investment.

And does defensive staff impact player acquisition? That's kind of silly. Maybe not always directly but indirectly you draft/sign players for specific systems. Carr/Mo were brought in to play in a Rob Ryan 3-4...not a Tampa 2 4-3 defense.

You think the team is doing fine until the do stuff like this. While other teams are getting starters for pics.

One last point.

Will McClay took over the draft and overall player personnel in 2014 .

I'm sure we can both agree player personnel has been better since then.
