Just a thought from a Cowboy fan living in Missouri. Much as JJ gets ragged on at least he cares. I live a state with Chief and Ram fans and let me tell you the Rams owner does not care. In fact I bet they leave for L.a.
The Chiefs are cheap and they never have drafted a starting Qb in years and as long as Hunt family puts butts in seats he will never spend money.

Dallas has a GREAT owner. Dallas has a below average GM.

Nope. But it also wouldn't have happeed without Jerry. Or without Aikman. Or without Emmitt. Etc. What's your point?

When you buy a football team, hire great people to run the team and win 3 Super Bowls as a result, you deserve BOATLOADS of credit. You're spinning your wheels if you're trying to convince yourself otherwise.

Of course you have to have talented players to win a championship - you are deflecting.

This is about the roles Jimmy and Jerry had - you are painting Jimmy having a much smaller role than Jerry. If so, the success of 1992-1996 should have been sustained for twenty years with a perennial contender like Landry did - has it?

Dissing the role Jimmy has had - Jerry paid for it all is like saying:
  • you had quadruple heart surgery
  • survived against long odds
  • then completed a marathon
  • then say the surgeon has nothing to do with your survival
  • simply because you despise him

Last I checked, the NFL HoF has far more coaches than owners inducted.

Jeez -- of course the Cowboys could have a worse owner -- nothing is so good or so bad that it couldn't be a little better or a little worse. Jerry is what he is and that's not likely to change at this juncture. The fact of the matter is, we might as well get used to him, whatever your perception may be. Regardless, he'll be right there 'til the end.

That pretty much sums it up!

Dallas has a GREAT owner. Dallas has a below average GM.

Jerry is the worst GM in the NFL and has been for at least 15 years
A GM with even half a brain would not hire campo to be HC of his team or give wade Phillips another bite
The only reason he hired jimmy was because they were friends not because he thought jimmy would be a great HC. Jimmy turned out to be a great HC luckily.
There is no debate about this

As far as being a good owner, can you give me the name of one owner in the NFL that would keep jerry as GM given his track record?
If not , then you have your answer, he is the worst owner in the NFL as far as fans are concerned. He is great for the brand, for the players, for the NFL but horrible absolutely horrible for cowboy fans who want the team to win championships

For me what makes him one of the worst is the fact that he will put up a competitive team as we have this year but them get in the way if them actually doing anything. This year he is staying out if the way but he has wasted years of Romo's, Whitten, and even Ware's careers trying to garner all the credit for the team. He IMO is the sole reason those guys will retire without a ring. If they get one never mind.

Did you guys enjoy those 3 Super Bowls? Thank the man who hired Jimmy and allowed him to do his thing.

Yeah, he learned his lesson too!; hasn't allowed anyone since to upstage him, even if it means 8-8 and missing the playoffs almost every year for 18 years
