Yeah, I'll give them 50% of what went wrong was injuries, but a huge factor was Kiffin went into a shell and ran the most passive scheme he could.
It was no co-incidence that when jerry forced his hand we fared much better playing the eagles aggressively. If you've got a bunch of rejects playing the DL the last thing you want is for the OL to get their hands on them.

Speed up the process please.

Seriously, we get some healthy bodies back and upgrade the talent so we can be average next year and folks will be impressed.

Well when u draft Owusu-Ansah in front of Kam Chancellor, whoever is coaching isn't getting much help on the front end! I didn't know who chancellor was till last year when them boys lit up Witten and Co. I've never been scared watching a game but dang they were killing out players! I think that is the only game where Witten has ever heard footsteps! I didn't know who he was but someone in the Hawks organization knew, and he was developed into a really good player!

I thought when we were pretty healthy on defense in the last game against the Eagles that they did pretty well. Even then Ware wasn't healthy and we were missing two starting LBs including Lee who probably would have helped us keep McCoy under 100 yards. Claiborne was out a lot of games and until we signed Sterling Moore, teams were immediately throwing to who ever Webb was covering. They didn't even have to look at their second option so the ball got out quickly and we didn't get many sacks. We have a good group of cornerbacks with Scandrick, Claiborne, Carr, and Moore. If Wilbur and Holloman continue to improve and Lee can find the magic formula to stay healthy I like our LBs. Add a mid priced DT and DE. Bring in a mid priced safety to compete with Wilcox, Johnson, and Heath and I think we could be pretty good.

I think that more then anything Dallas needs, health. If they can keep the core on def healthy they can win games. And if they can just get a little depth they are a playoff team. Cowboys never make it easy, but they make it entertaining. and i love that. I never get bored with this team.

thanx jerry

Johnson keeps getting mentioned. Kid has yet to play a meaningful down. I'd bet he doesn't make the team this year. Time to move on from another Jerry reach

It almost physically impossible to be any worse. Unless the NFL were to implement a rule to limit first downs to 30 and passing yards to to 350, how the heck could we not get better? Oh, Roger could decide to make quarters be 12 mins instead if 15....

exactly

we wont be histirically bad next year
way to set high goals for next year monte
"we will be better than the worst of 32"

What's funny is I actually believe Kiff.

At least he has done this thing before and has a SB to show for it. When our HC speaks about the team I have no confidence because he doesn't know what he's doing.

I think any sane Cowboy fan should have known this. Tony Dungy and others warned us that it was going to take time to build this defense. We need to draft better players at key positions on defense and the remaining players need to stay healthy. We were dealing with a patchwork mess last year. Hopefully it gets better next year.

I swear he looks exactly like some actor. I want to say Gene Hackman but I know that is not who I am picturing in my mind. Have thought that for almost a year and can't pinpoint it :(

Robert Loggia

You might remember him as the Defensive Coach in the movie Necessary Roughness

The more players you have with possible upside, the better the probability that one of them steps up and becomes a quality starter. Matt Johnson seems to be an all or nothing player this year. Either he gets injured or he doesn't.

It's hard to imagine that we won't get at least incrementally better in 2014, judging by how bad our defense was last year. Naturally, the obvious question that begs is just how much better can it get? If it's not something very similar to a day-and-night difference on defense, it won't be nearly enough. Pardon my skepticism but I'm pretty certain I'm not the only one seeing this thing in that perspective. There's nowhere to go but up, yet our setting all-time records for ineptitude isn't anything to be highly optimistic about changing in one year's time. Monte Kiffin's chances for surviving yet another year with the same system intact seem a longshot at best. Yet, we still hope for a miracle. What a hardy breed we've become in the last two decades! Poor management will do that.

I'd like to think 15+ years is more then enough time.

We need actual coaches that are out in front of things instead of getting coaches that had successful schemes 10 years ago.

All I can do as a fan is hitch my wagon to he Kiffen Express and hope for the best.
I don't expect caviar and champagne, but I hope the train can stay on it's tracks.

Here's to 2014...

Caviar and champagne??? I would settle for hotdogs and root beer for 2014!.

Considering the challenges our defense faced this year I don't see how any coach could be fairly judged using any scheme.

Man- I haven't had a good hot dog in years!
Funny enough- my favorite dogs were the ones sold at Costco's food thingy.
Big ol' Dag and a drink for a buck fitty?
As much fixin's as you can pile on?

I think I'm going to go renew my Costco membership...

Yup- with mountains of onions, relish, sauerkraut and hot mustard...
And an Ice Cold Newcastle.

I'm out the door...
