Here is my issue with time. Your line was already older and in need of an infusion. So you now have to hit in the draft for multiple positions. We talked last year how safety is one of the most important positions in this D and yet they constantly skip it. So we are looking at, depending on our DBs stepping at a) filling many holes and b) doing it while drafting well. How likely does that sound.

What's frustrating is that we are going to keep hearing about things taking time and then Romo will be gone and we will be getting killed.

Did you say this about rob Ryan as well? Bc he went through the same thing and did much better.

I really didn't like the firing of Rob.
Then all these stories of him quitting on the team comes up.
He didn't attend meetings.
Eberflus was the DeFacto DC.

I never trusted any of that.
You can't trust today's journalism.
The man talked too much ish to let others do everything to back up his statements for him.

I didn't like it then- I don't like it now, but why keep crying over spilled milk some say?

BECAUSE THE MILK IS STILL SPILLING AND PRETTY SOON THE GLASS WILL BE EMPTY.

Yeah it is depressing. Dallas hasn't drafted a safety high but that is no excuse for what they have put out there, for the most part, since Woodson retired. I mean, a smart front office, should be able to find solid guys to fill in via later rounds or FA pickups (and not the 50 million $ pickups). Who was that guy Wade and Co were touting a couple of years ago that everyone bought into? It is so depressing to see how whole positions are ignored or they just hope they figure themselves out. I feel like the only way the Cowboys can fill some positions is if they draft it in the first round (or on occasion second round). And because you only get one first a year, some of these position groups grow weaker and weaker (or continue to be weak)

Some ppl wanna say, "it's not kiffins fault it's the players." Maybe to some extent that's true. But Ryan got way more out out of backups than kiff did. Carter sucks in kiffs scheme. I don't like the fact that Sean lee drops back into coverage 75% of the time either. Hatcher is the only player that has excelled in this scheme. And he's as good as gone. I don't see it working with the current personnel and I don't think one draft will fix that. I want to see marinelli take a bigger role within this team. I want him coaching the whole defense, not just Dline. I feel like he could get guys like Bruce carter and Barry church and JJ Wilcox and Mo Claiborne to play well for him. Similar to what he did with George selvie, drake Nevis, jason hatcher, Martez Wilson, jairus Wynn.

I can't say anything against this.
Solid points. Real points.
I want Rod as the DC also, but that isn't happening and I believe he's gone after this year from reading the tea leaves.

So what does a pro-active GM do in this scenario?

Takes time to get better? Heck, how can they be any worse?

I guess they could be the 2nd worst or worst defense in NFL history.

Did you honestly think when Kiffen took over and those injuries happened that he was going to be successful?
When the previous DC who had a radically different scheme, yet still the belief in and of his players couldn't?

Both DC's- Rob and Kiff have now had success, albeit one more than the other over the course of history...

Kiff said he wanted his D to play like Seattle. Nice. Me too. Then injuries happened and they had to back off, like Rob did last year with his scheme, like any DC would.
What say you to this?

Pats had a number of key starters out on both sides of the ball and were a game away from the Super Bowl.

Yup. They had a deeper team than the Cowboys.
I watched them- two of my best friends are hardcore Patriots fans from the North East.

So what exactly are you saying?
The Cowboys have a talent deficiency problem on the defensive side of the ball, exacerbated by injuries to their starters.
The Patriots had more talent deeper into their roster than Dallas did.

So how did you expect The Kiff to succeed with that anchor hanging around his neck?

I now ask you.

Injuries are no excuse. Period.

I get what you're saying.
I'd love to agree with you and to some extent- I do.

But let's be real about the situation at hand.
This team has been top heavy for years.
The blame? That's another discussion.

But when an entire group (two groups actually) gets obliterated by injury and the team can't cover that with any semblance of talent...
It's not an excuse. Whether you like it or not.

I was like you.
I argued for months several weeks back- vehemently that all teams go through injuries, but look at this team.

This was the kind of stuff no team in their situation no matter what coach they had could overcome.
And you get the results that they got.

I can call it Real because it happened. Step by step. From street free-agent to street free-agent.
If they had capable talent behind the starters- would they have been starting guys who were bagging groceries but a few weeks earlier...

What DC is going to overcome that?
Again- I ask you.

Until this team goes 0-16...
There is always a downhill.

As of right now- they are middle-of-the-pack.
Not bottom of the pile.

You're still wrong.

The above bolded is my remark to @187beatdown.

@Corso, I don't know why your quotes are going wrong but check your posts before sending them, please. Thanks
