Cut the crap, stats don't tell the whole story. You can easily sit and watch the game and tell Dez was not used properly.

If stats tell the whole story, then Ken Hamlin was an All Star safety, that had 5 picks that 1 year.

Oh/

He was top 10 in targets and receptions, and tied for 3rd in TD's, but he wasn't used right. And you're basing that on...?

Key points in games....for instance:

In the Red Zone, vs KC, should of had a TD...Dez was Abusing Flowers all day. 1 on 1....we decide to throw a smoke screen. Walk away with 3...instead of 6...5-9 vs 6-2

That was one of many times we neglected to involve our main guy. We sometimes try to involve him when things are going south and it's to late. So those stats can be an inflation.

Most of the catches and Targets Dez had, he had to work for them, we were not creative with Our best target. We started moving him around, late in the season, and we still barely did it.

Targets/Catches are not the problem. It's how you use the player, and take advantage of mismatches which we failed to do. When Calvin was healthy not only did he get many chances deep to make plays, but he was used in a way to succeed.

We thought we could stick Brandon on him, and say man him up, they did not shy away from that. They took advantage of it, over and over again.

So it appears that Callhan is this years Ryan...........aka, the annual scapegoat for Garrett not getting it done.

Guess he drew the short straw.....................LOL.............Considering we were 5th in the league in points scored, understandable why he would be pissed that he gets the blame when Kiffen gets a pass for having the worst defense in franchise history.

I would be like, "what the hell, I call the plays and we are 5th in points scored and I get pseudo fired while grandpa's defense could not stop a litter of kittens from getting to a milk bowl and he gets a pass"

How many coaches have to fall on the sword because Opie cant get It done?

Calvin played in two less games and another handful he could barely walk and still managed over 250 more yards than Bryant. I am not saying Dez wasn't used enough but there were several halves that he wasn't used at all.

The stats are comparable though, neither was dominant this season, just good.

Hopefully, this new play-caller will create more plays for him to utilize his strengths.

Really, you're just going by your own perception. You give one example, yet say there were "many" times. Okay, whatever. Don't know how a guy can get that much production, without using him often and properly. I'd like to see his numbers if we actually used him "right".

I'm pretty sure this is a sign of desperation, or frustration, or dysfunction or something, I just can't figure out why. I'm going to get a head start on hating the move, anyway, to fit in. Doom. Ginger. Puppet. Playcalling.

Correct. We didnt get dez involved for long stretches at a time and that can't happen. The offense struggled because of it.

If linehan can help us get dez the ball down the field, then great. But I don't think linehan is some great offensive mind. This is yet another guy fans will pin their hopes on just to see the same problems occur under JJ and JG.

Do you watch the games?? Or are you just pulling up stats?

Give me an example of how we use Dez correctly, and take advantage of mis-matches consistently.

If we go by stats, and not actually watch the games. You would think Romo is clutch all the time, and makes the best decisions. Oh wait, he has great stats therefore he is, and is on the same level as Peyton and Brady.

No stats say otherwise. According to Picksix

We use Dez perfectly, forget what you see on TV or at games

Move makes sense, Garrett and Scott have been close a long time.

Funny though, I saw some morons blurting out on this board yesterday that "this had Jerry written all over it, forcing members onto Garrett". Only if some of these morons paid attention a little to the past coaching tree connections.

2005 Miami Dolphins staff:

Head Coach – Nick Saban
Offensive Coordinator – Scott Linehan
Quarterbacks – Jason Garrett
Tight Ends – Derek Dooley
Offensive Line – Hudson Houck
Offensive Quality Control – Judd Garrett

But NO! This MUST be Garrett being a "Puppet"! It must it must it must

Until it all goes south, then it will surely be Jerry's fault.

Much like the Kiffin situation from last off season. "They worked together! Total Garrett power move!! Love it!!"

After the defensive meltdown

"This was all Jerry meddling, if only we gave clownshoes a chance to bring in his own coaches!!'

Pfft.

3 different play callers/OCs in as many seasons. I bet you tried to put a positive spin on each one of them.

So did a lot of other teams.

I just don't get it. In his first year as the OC, our red zone scoring increased to #3 (up from #20 the 2 prior years), PPG (#5), Points per Play (#2). Our blocking was improved and Romo, even with the injury most of the year, put up good numbers. Our short yardage offense was much better, as well. Basically, all of the problems that have been plaguing the offense for years were fixed.

Lowest yards per attempt in Romo career and fewest amount of team offensive yards since like 2005. We were basically, all dressed up with nowhere to go. Cute stats but this offense struggled far too often via the pass.

Yards per attempt is on the QB. I think this has to do with his notable lack of arm strength, probably due to the injury. Who cares about yards? I care about scoring efficiency, and were good at scoring, with no defense. Granted, it wasn't perfect. 3rd down conversions were terrible, but they guy only had 1 year and he produced.

I'm going to go out on a real long tree branch here and say, this isn't going to push us over the top. Especially with the what, 31st ranked defense? So let's fix the offense some more by hiring a THIRD different offensive playcaller in as many years......yeah, that's not going to screw with offensive continuity

You know what they say about too many chefs in a kitchen.

This move is like worrying about the marshmallows at the end of the stick while your house is burning down.

We'll have to see what the defense does in the off season because that will write the story of next year.

If he can help, great, if not it won't matter anyhow because it will be a nuclear winter in Dallas if we don't make the playoffs.
