He played okay, but not great. Give most NFL caliber QBs time in the pocket and they will play okay also.

The team is finally starting to look more balanced, not quite there yet though.

I mean seriously, do you think JG advocated having no true No 1 receiver or no TE? He was begging Witten to stay when most people here were begging Witten to retire. Yeah, it was about time for Witten to go, just as it was Romo and Dez but that doesn’t change the fact they did nothing to address glaring holes in our offense.
Until recently we had the best O line, Dez was in his prime and we had the leading rusher with Murray but we also had no pass rush, a shoddy secondary and questionable LB’ing depending on if Lee was hurt that week or not.

Point being, until the past few years and kind of this year as well, what you call overturning the roster is akin to shoveling a pile of manure over and over again IMO.

Why would he regress under coaching with Garrett? Romo was already established as a good QB even before Garrett got here. Heck, the reason why Romo was good in the first place was because he was surrounded by talent - Terrell Owens, Terry Glenn, Jason Witten, MBIII. He started out with good coaches - Sean Peyton and the Tuna.

Garrett rode the wave of Romo success, not the other way around.

But I agree with you about were just shuffling manure from the same pile.

Last year, Dak was 2nd in the league in passer rating from a clean pocket when he was pressured on less than 40% of his dropbacks in the game.

Just out of curiosity, how often do QBs have the 40% games. Maybe you don't know, I sure don't but it could really reflect on the sample size.

Another interesting stat is how QBs play when they are ahead or behind in a game. Here's Dak's in 2017, since you were using that year above.

Nobody.

There's not another user on this site that throws the word around and brings that level of negativity around here like you do. Don't ever claim to be some glass half full optimist while you preach hate anywhere and everywhere you go.

I just had a terrific back and forth conversation with someone who had a very differing viewpoint. But I guess you weren't smart enough to notice that and instead saw it as yet another chance to attack someone for your own perceived "negativity". Your fault. Your flaw. Your shortcoming. Your issue.

That’s one game, do you really want to take a walk down memory lane? What year do you want to start? Here’s a qoute I copied and pasted from 2008.

“In what became a de facto third playoff game for Romo shortly prior to its start, on December 28, Romo and the Cowboys failed to compete against the Philadelphia Eagles in a 44–6 loss.[31] Romo committed three turnovers in the game and went 21/39 for 183 yards and no touchdowns.[32] The loss dropped Romo's combined record in December to 5–8 and again raised questions about his performance in games of consequence.[2]”

Romo had nothing to do with those turnovers, did he? It was all coaching and they never gave him enough! We can say the same about Dak.

I totally agree about needing a defense. Dallas isn't going to have a #1 defense anytime soon so the idea is that the lesser the defense the better you need your QB. I also believe that a strong leader who is good at the QB position can inspire the players around him. It can energize a defense and help coaches call plays and take chances blitzing defensively. The better the QB you don't need the beat RB or best oline

I mentioned regressing because most JG haters blame Daks and other players regression on him. You’re absolutely right about the talent thatt surrounded him though which is another excuse people make for him “he was never given the right tools”. I’m obviously paraphrasing there but the argument is made all the time that his career was wasted, not just on coaching, but also due to the lack of talent around him. I guess a few HOF’ers, Cowboys all time leading receiver and leading rusher in the NFL weren’t good enough :rolleyes:
