Yeah well in this case he was comparing two football players drafted in the 4th round, that's enough context for anyone to understand.
Anyone with "Rudimentary Knowledge" of football gets it, except trouble makers. You can act smart with your fancy words, I see through you, you're full of HS. How's the Prius Hybrid?

And he was comparing using a metric that speaks to multiple factors. Obviously the context if "starting" takes on a different meaning when you realize that his rise to the top of the depth chart had a great deal to do with the losses of Lee, Holloman, Durant, and Ro to injuries. This makes comparing against Canty, a player who didn't have a similar set of injuries clearing a path for him to start, totally meaningless.

*** are you talking about hybrid cars?

I can care less why he started, all I know is he was very good when he did play. Hated the pick originally, but the guy was invaluable last year.

Bruce Carter? his legend was almost as good as Dunbars. Omg, Carter was the bestest thing next to the most amazing thing we never saw thats how good he was. I know i was told here how awesome Carter was going to be. We never blow up any players status.

Fans like to anticipate players who may be able to excel. We all know all players will not succeed. I have zero ability to understand why some of you have this incessant need to point out the obvious. Way over half of all draft picks fail. WAY over. Most players who make the roster are gone in a few years if not sooner.

You appear to see the excitement of fandom in a different light than most. I expect there were few people who gave YOU ironclad guarantees of one player's success. Most people see the world in all its hues of color and shades. Some see it in black and white with amplitudes of off and on. Personally I choose a world full of colors rather than drab ole black and white films.

This act is either born of an excess of negativity or is designed to pull the tiger's tail.

To be fair I think 95% of us would have fallen into that category on draft day 2014. :)

Not anybody that spent time digging up his college game footage. When I looked at his college game footage right after the draft, I was surprised he didn't get picked earlier.

I'm not demanding anything. I'm only stating my opinion. We don't ban people here period much less over having an opinion. I just don't like your opinions at times. And from now on if you want to address me one on one then do it via a PM. Call out posts and threads are frowned on.

Carter is an extremely athletic player who simply isn't a very good football player. Fans have and always will give the superior athletes a lot of leeway when waiting for them to play well. People's hopes get high when a player is clearly well above the average for his position.

I never was a big fan of his but I would have really loved for him to have proven me wrong. He was pretty good in coverage when he did what the coaches asked of him, but that was about it.

When Marinelli basically called him out to the media, I figured his days were numbered in Dallas. When the coaches would rather play Wilber at the 43 OLB spot than him, you know something was really wrong. They simply didn't think Carter could play very well.

It is a shame too because he had the athleticism to be very good in this scheme.

Hitchens showing as a rookie the ability to play all 3 spots at LB and do so at a fairly high level is pretty remarkable. With so much being thrown at him instead of focusing on one position and learning it for him to play as he has was impressive. I think with his work ethic he will only improve as a player

I've always said it seems the Cowboys draft personnel just seem to throw "it" against the wall after the first 3 rounds.

I've posted draft success per round multiple times and it includes what success means. Point is to find starters down there is problematic and not a lot better for depth and niche players.

Ya pays your dollar and takes your chance.

Hitchens performed OK. But there is film study on his rookie season that points to his high tackle numbers as a result of getting beat in coverage a lot. He still has a lot of work to do. But there's potential to be really good, not sure about great.

Not trying to call you out, but where is this film study at? Doesn't seem to reason that a LB getting beat in coverage "a lot" would lead to tackles for said linebacker.

Hey **, I always thought we should have added a few lbs on Carter and made him a pass rusher. Pure speculation on my part but I thought he could have been a great pass rusher. Probably based upon a few blitzes and punt rushing skills that I saw.

It's funny, I don't follow the college game enough to even have an iota of information on his skill set. The footage I saw looked average, so he was a pleasant surprise to me last season. I really thought he would be too slow. Of course, again not having much knowledge, I didn't condemn the pick either.

You were ahead of most of his critics because you actually saw some college game footage.
