Glad this saga is over
Even then, that would be unrelated to the cap.Same as always unless we force Romo to pay back his signing bonus.
Which we reportedly won't.
??Good, screw him.
Some reports are the Cowboys were getting ready to release him so he can retire and go into broadcasting ??? That makes no sense .. why release him ? Just have him retire and we obtain his rights , releasing him and we don't ..
I will believe it when Tony says it in a presser :. Could be another move to force another team to blink then trade
Even then, that would be unrelated to the cap.
Retirement will work the same as trade or release cap-wise.
We couldn't get back Orton's or Ratliff's, they won't even try with RomoSame as always unless we force Romo to pay back his signing bonus.
Which we reportedly won't.
As I understood the report on SIRIUS radio, they were going to release him, but he is, instead, retiring. His rights will remain with Dallas...not that it matters as he is very likely done playing. If he's retiring, why would they release him?

The Dallas Cowboys quarterback has opted to retire, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. He is retiring in order to pursue opportunities in football broadcasting, Rapoport reported on Good Morning Football on Monday. Romo has received offers to work for CBS and Fox.
Around The NFL will have more on this story shortly.
If he's retiring, why would they release him?
Not if they release him as being reported. This changes nothing really. Dallas still holds his rights even with retirement. The TV thing gives him a guaranteed job in the event no team comes calling later.
