I think he’ll see out his rookie deal and that is good enough for me.
I don’t think he’ll ever be a starter here but who knows.
Not many agree with me right now but I think losing Vander Esch would be very bad for this team unless he has an underlying medical condition that we aren’t aware of.
This fan base never liked Vander Esch though.. When we drafted him he was Bobby Carpenter.. When he was amazing.. Then got hurt... He was Sean Lee.
Dude is a phenomenal talent.
I cant think of many people on this board that didn't like Smith or LVE in 2018, fans are down on them for good reason, both are looking like 1 year wonders and nothing more. Whats the point of keeping LVE if he cant stay on the field?

Im not downplaying what Ball is accused of, but I believe people can change, and that incident he was suspended for was in 2018, 3 years ago, maybe he has learned from his mistakes. Hopefully he continues the path he is on now, and not only become a better player but also a person, and show all who have doubted him that people can changeI think OT Josh Ball might end up being the "steal of the draft". It's hard to see any issues with his physical ability when watch game footage.
It would probably help if the scheme called for it .....Rule number one Cox. When the opposing RB is in the flat, please cover him!!
Haven’t seen that around these parts in over a decade.....
So based on your statements there can never be any such thing as a draft steal? Because every team will have had to pass on a player several times for them to be labeled a steal. You’re saying that such a player can never out perform their draft position? Anyway, that’s how I read what you posted. Not arguing, I get some guys drop within a round or fall down into another round... But Cox literally fell 60-70 spots! That’s not because of the normal..”a team preferred another player” reasoning. Teams literally passed over him a few times before Dallas drafted him.
Honestly, it’s not even about him lasting that long. My concern is why?! The shoulder concern prob doesn’t help, but did other teams think his run defense is more a detriment than his superb coverage skills?
All I’m saying is.. all this talk about how “Lucky” Dallas was to draft him and that he’s the “biggest draft steal” has me concerned. He was the 115th player selected, 15th LBer, and Detroit preferred Derrick Barnes from Purdue 2 picks before Cox.
I’m not trying to throw a wet blanket on Cox, but I have my doubts that he’s the player that most promote him as. I hope for the best for all our draft picks..hell at the least he can be a situational nickle or dime coverage LBer and that’ll be fine. But Draft steal? I’m not so sure bc of he could be a liability against the run. Cox is starting to look like fools gold to me... and nobody has been able to convince me otherwise.
Rule number one Cox. When the opposing RB is in the flat, please cover him!!

Its good that neither injuries were directly related, collarbone had absolutely nothing in common with the previous neck injury. You don’t think that we are possibly over reacting to a broken collar bone injury that he came back from?
Hey, we did take Charles Tapper in the 4th rd ahead of Prescott too.Just think of how pathetic it was that the Cowboys took Wright over Cox. Got lucky that he was still there.
Cox is the only pick that I really like. He is also the only draft pick that was a good value IMO.This appeared on my Facebook news feed.

Was never a big fan of Smith.I cant think of many people on this board that didn't like Smith or LVE in 2018, fans are down on them for good reason, both are looking like 1 year wonders and nothing more. Whats the point of keeping LVE if he cant stay on the field?

I agree. I think by getting Parsons it allowed them to get a specialist in a coverage LB like Cox. Without Parsons though they might have went for Bolton or Browning potentiallyI get what you're saying. To me he was a 4th round pick. Could've went earlier....He's not a flawless prospect. He has flaws. Marvin Wilson was another guy who was projected to go much higher....I saw some places say late 1st and in the 2nd..he goes undrafted.
IN regards to why he fell? I honestly don't know why. I heard the rumblings of a shoulder injury...Tyler Biadiz fell last year as well. Its just the draft. That's all I can add to he discussion lol.
Its also worth noting that other linebackers may have went before him because they were better fits. Better tacklers. Better run stoppers. Cowboys happen to have been in the business of better coverage linebackers. Worked out for them.
The draft has a lot to do with potential and projections. Players are labeled steals when they go last then thought but could be multiple reasons why. With Cox I don't think it had anything to do with ability but his shoulder injury. Some teams drop the player down the board or off their board all together based on injury or even their personality.Let me clarify, players absolutely out-perform their draft status and most certainly can be considered draft steals no matter where they’re drafted. I suppose it’s subject to the lenses you view it. Was Aaron Rodgers a steal as a 24th pick in the 1st round? Of course Brady is an easy example at 199th in the 6th. Not just QBs, but every year someone emerges that wasn’t highly thought of by scouts and surprises. That’s not what I’m talking about.
As a matter of fact, I honestly hope my gut is wrong about Jabril Cox. I hope he is the better version of what we envisioned we were getting from Jaylon when we rolled the dice on him in the 2nd Rd. A ‘sideline to sideline’ LBer with coverage abilities that’s not afraid to mix it up.
I suppose I’m against labeling a player a “draft steal” a week after the draft. Why is he a steal at this point?.. Bc of others perceived value? I mean 15 other LBers were drafted before him. Almost half the league preferred someone else and that includes Dallas, which happen to pick two LBers. Again, I’m not hating on the guy, I’m just keeping my expectations tempered. So..just like some collectively say he’s a steal.. even more have spoke of the gaping hole in his run defense. Which just so happens to be a major prerequisite as a NFL LBer. (Just ask Jaylon)
Hopefully my doubts ab Cox are unwarranted and he’ll have me eating crow. Maybe My real problem is folks anointing a player a “Steal” before he’s ever played a down of football, exp a player that has a major question mark in his game.
side note: I’m reading way to much hype for this kid. Not only is he tagged the “Draft steal”.. I see a lot of Dallas fans regurgitating the media’s bias that this 4th Rd’er some how saved Dallas’s draft. Forget the fact, that Dallas drafted the top defender in the draft.. or they snagged a 1st rd talented CB for the second year in a row.. na, it’s all about Jabril Cox. Smh. He’s going to have a ton of pressure on him to succeed. Let’s hope he’s ready for it.
