Another interesting stat: Dez is not even in the top 15 WRs for snap counts at 84.7%. If he does get paid, I would hope he could push that closer to 90%.

Been pretty consistent on this. If Dez doesn't want to sign, then franchise him and trade him. It would certainly hurt in the short term but in the long term, it might actually work out better.

$13 million to sign FAs with and 2-3 draft picks including at least 1 first rounder... yea... that could help out a lot.

1st off I want Dez back. At all cost? NO This team is setup to run the ball which we did more than we threw the ball and the results were very good as opposed to leading the league in passing that got us 8-8. I think Dallas should give Dez a deal that puts him in top 5 I think that is more than fair. When talking franchise QB money as you mention No way would I do that.

Good luck running the ball when they put 11 in the box and make Tony throw 40 times a game. Lol

Well I disagree completely but to explain why would force me to speak negatively of a certain player that is all but God around here..

1st off as I said I want Dez in Dallas and in the end I think he will be. I disagree Dallas should pay him what ever he wants. He is not a QB and does not deserve to be paid as such. Lastly he is not a god, he is a very good WR and I hope to have him for a long time but part of working out a deal is give and take it is not all one sided. I'm not trying to be negative towards Dez nor do I want fans to be negative towards Dez where we seem to disagree it you would give him anything he demands and I wouldn't. To be fair as much as I like Romo I would not give him the contract that Rodgers has.

They already were stacking the box and as much as you think all other WR are incompetent they are not. They are not Dez but they are not bad WR. You can't be serious? 11 in the box what WR are just left uncovered? lol I gladly take that with Dez or without. Dez is a very good player I want him back but with him we also went 8-8, 8-8 and 8-8 so it was not like his presence on the field alone caused the Cowboys to go 12-4 a lot of others made that possible including T. Williams without some of his big catches we don't win. His grad vs Seahawks in a critical moment was a big game changer. Murray carrying the load accounting for 40% of the offense was a difference maker and of course Dez play as well but it is not him alone.

I think the "God line" was intended towards Romo

Well Romo is not a god either. As much as I like Romo as I said I would not pay him what Rodgers gets and I certainly would not pay Dez what top franchise QB get. Saying I would not pay Dez what a QB makes does not make me anti Dez it does make me pro Cowboys.

Yes we did go 8-8 with him, how many games did we win those seasons because of him. Look im not going to have this debate again. Take Dez off of this offense, we wont be in the playoffs next year. Mark it down

That's what teams did to Dallas last year the last third of the year. Most fans don't realize that it's not always the yards gained in the running game but the commitment to the running game that makes it effective.

we won 8 because of him and others. Mark it down he is one player on the team not the entire team. Yes he is a big part he is not the only part. He accounted for 30% of the offense and I hope we get him signed again my only issue is he does not deserve to be paid as a franchise QB which is what was being discussed. Sorry I don't think he can call his own price tag and expect the Cowboys to kiss his butt, it does not work that way. I expect Dallas to make a very good offer to him making him one of the highest paid WR but you guys are getting carried away with this team revolves around Dez, it does not.

Every team has key players that make them dominant in certain areas, and those key players typically make a big chunk of the money. That's just what it is.

Fair enough, but that doesn't change the fact that none of these high priced WRs have won championships and it also doesn't change the fact that if the Cards had more cap available, it's more likely that they may have had better players to step in.

Let's see how many elite pass rushers made the Super Bowl. Von Miller? Nope. Justin Houston? Nah. What about JJ Watt? He was sitting at home. Connor Barwin? Mario Williams? Robert Quinn? Cameron Wake? Only one of those guys even made the PLAYOFFS! So does this mean each of their respective teams won't try to resign/sign them?

Now let's take a look at the elite receiving option. AJ Green? Yes. Dez? You bet. Megatron? Yup. Gronkowski? Won the Super Bowl. Demaryius Thomas? Yup (and played in the Super Bowl last year). Jordy Nelson? He was there too. TY Hilton? Wouldn't consider him elite but he's the second tier.

Seven elite wide recievers were in the playoffs compared to only one elite pass rusher. You don't get rid of key pieces to your team. You retain them and build through the draft. Championships are a team accomplishment.

You mean a better back up QB? Most teams don't have a decent starter much less a good back up.

Oh i dont want to tie all of the cap into him either. Im just saying, he does a lot more for this offense then people realize. Hes double sometimes triple covered. Name another player on our offense that commands that kind of commitment from an opposing defense. Twill and Beasely? Have you seen what happens to Twill in double coverage? lol. We lose dez our entire offense is up in the air. The run game can only take you so far.

I agree with you but *if* Dez gets to greedy what can you do? We need help at all three levels on defense. It's not that simple under the cap.

You franchise him and see if you can trick him into signing a contract that looks bigger than it really is

It would depend on how we replace him and whether we improve in other areas.

What did Dez do in the playoffs? You talked about stacking the box against Murray, but Dez disappears a lot as well.
