Dallas Mavs Playoff thread

very nice! but like the celtics/spurs, the lakers are vampires, you gotta drive the stake all the way in! i hope the mavs come out with a lot of intensity in game 3 and drive that stake right up to the heart of the lakers

I think the Mavs play better on the road too. So, maybe it's like Not Home Court Advantage. :laugh2:

ya thats a wee bit concerning, neither the lakers or the mavs are very good home teams. the other side of that coin is that they are excellent road teams. the mavs have played well at home so far tho, hopefully they keep it up

I don't know whether to be happy that Artest is suspended for his flying forearm or to be sad that he wont be out there to screw his team over. Catch 22

Artest is still a good defender and he was bound to improve so the complete elimination of him in game 3 is awesome with me, that is a LOT of their physicality and the Mavs need as little of that *** possible lol

Im glad his punk self got suspended.

Someone just brought the following fact to my attention, 2006 finals...up 2-0, not be a downer but we should simmer down and wait until we play a home game. Go MAVS!

They went up 2-0 at home that year. They've taken a 2-0 lead away this time, but if anyone can choke that away it's the Mavs. I ain't gonna celebrate until it's over, i don't trust this team been burnt far to many times

Same here man, I hope like hell they don't and finally earn the respect of this league which has not been given to us overt the past few years after than finals meltdown. I hope we make a run for Dirk's sake, he deserves a ring more than anyone in the league.

What?? Up until three games ago, the Mavs had lost something like 18 out of 20 playoff road games.

I've watched the Lakers and I just don't see the energy from that team to come back. I think they are done. They need to be eliminated and they need to go for a season or so where they don't have post season. They need to get younger, especially at guard IMO. The only one who looks like they have energy are Bynum and Odom and Bynum is still injured so it's really not an explosive energy.

Kobe, Fish and Gasol all look tired. Artest isn't hitting anything and the frustration is showing up in his game.

I love Fish but I think the Lakers need to get themselves another starting PG, move Kobe to the two and get some quality depth in the backcourt. Neither Brown, Barnes nor Blake are really helping in their play. None of them can hit a 3 to save their lives. Bring in a good PG and move Fish to the bench and you help that situation out a lot IMO. Anyhow ....

I was referencing the regular season.

The team's makeup is different this year than it has been in years past. They just really aren't the same team.

Even then, the Mavs were a game better at home than on the road. And their first few road games in the playoffs were brutal. I still feel a lot more confident with them at home. I am not expecting a sweep, but would be shocked if the Mavs didn't get the split of the next 2 games.

The only thing that can save Los Angeles at this point is Kobe going off over the final five games, and I just don't think he has it in him anymore to carry a team by himself. He doesnt have the same lift he used to, can't get to the rim as effectively as he once did and is entering the jumpshooting phase of his career. Pau is playing like a scrub, Odom has been a non-factor, Artest has caught the crazy again, Barnes and Blake have been worthless, and Bynum is nevr going to take over and will his team offensively to a victory.

So, errrr, that big blond dude? Might want to avoid leaving him open lakers! Haha

Apparently, the Lakers are content with leaving one of the best shooters in the history of the game wide open all night

wow, traveling on Kobe. Is that the first of his career?

Sloppy 2nd QTR, Mavs are such a streaky team that if they don't play better again in the 3rd they could be in big trouble not just and not just this game

playing like a team with a 2-0 lead. Kobe has been resting the whole game, look out.

This one is going to be a loss, last thing they could afford to do was to let them back in the series but that's exactly what they're doing, same old mavs :bang2:
