Dallas should explore Dak trade value

It's the same offense with the same receivers and TEs and same OL. Dak and Zeke were the only differences. That 4-12 team had a 1000 yard rusher so it was clearly clearly not the running back spot that needed improvement.

Why don't you ask Big Ben, Peyton and Mahomes how it was to well into a much better team than Dak had. 2 can play that game.
Please stop.

The 2015 team started Brandon Weeden and Matt Cassell for most of the season and had Darren Mcfadden at running back.

The team was 3-1 that season when Romo played and 1-11 when those bums played. Stop it

But yet y'all want to say how bad Dak is and how he walked into such a great situation. Wouldn't those QBs benefit from the same great team. Perhaps you Dak haters should stop because its getting foolish at this point with y'alls contradictions.

Romo 3-1 averages 12-4 for the season, Dak took the same group and would have went 14-2 if not for the tank in week 17.

Looking at their 1st round performance I think they deserve some benefit of a doubt.

Also I am sure Paxton and Connor look better in our offense than they did in their careers to date. Dak walked into the best QB situation for a rookie QB in league history.

Paxton and Connor are sitting on their couches as 31 other teams ignore them, and looking at the Cowboy's performance of drafting QBs post-Jimmy we should be thankful Dak is even starting QB material.

Weeden and Cassell are beyond terrible and you are literally disregarding Zeke’s impact on 2016 team. He literally was an MvP candidate and wouldve threatened to break Dickinsons record if the coach wasnt a coward....

Not saying Zeke was terrible but let's not act like the Cowboys didn't have a running game. They had a 1000 yard rusher with only starting 8 games and finished 4th in the league in rushing. Let's also not forget the OL downgraded at LG in Daks rookie season. Dak was also in mvp conversation as well that year.

Y'all say Dak is terrible but then turn around and say he walked into such a great spot as a rookie. But when we bring up the fact he took over a 1-11 team without Romo y'all say Weeden and Cassell are terrible but yet with so called less talent Cassell has had a double digit win season and Weeden went on to Houston and won games. You can't have it both ways just to make Dak look bad.

After Stephan comments about Dak needing to sign team friendly deal and Dak on record as saying there will be no discount...an impasse is coming. Rather than get into issue of is Dak good or not, what could Cowboy get in trade if long term deal can't be agreed upon.

Note:
Denver received TWO 1st & 3rd for Jay Cutler
Cincy received 1st & 2nd for Carson Palmer
Eagles received 1st & 4th round pick for Sam Bradford.

If your Stephan, what would you need back in trade?

Note: this is not to get into large debate about if Dallas should or shouldn't do this but merely an exercise in what you think his current trade value is.
Look, Dak isn't as accomplished as the QBs you mentioned.
I'd settle for a 2nd and a 3rd. That's not pie in the sky. Nor is that defeatism. That is realistic.

That was his rookie year by the way. Not bad for rookies.

I get your point, but at this particular moment he is irreplaceable. We're adding pieces for a run this upcoming season. We need a QB this season. If we go 7-9 or 8-8 then we can revisit this.

We won't get to revisit the mountain of money we'll guarantee Dak if we sign him long term.

If Dak isn't the guy to lead that run, signing him this year humps a chance at a run at least through the end of his guaranteed money.

With Dak, Garrett, Moore, Marinelli, and Richard at the top, it's just not time to push all our chips into the table for a run. There is plenty team left for a run next year and the next. Let's see the prove it this year, or we can move on from many of them.

Visions of Sean Peyton 2020 dancing in my head. Get Garrett the Game Day Liability off the sidelines, and maybe this team makes a run.

I'd be seriously shopping him too. There are other QBs. Ones you can draft and pay diddley to, and run them like they're RBs.

Another solution on Dak is a 1 year extension at franchise tag price, moving half the money up to this year. Then we play him as a running QB, and see about a run. Dak as a running QB maybe makes a run. Not Dak as a pocket passer, which is what he'll be if we sink 90m gtd into him.

Explore Dak's trade value? Great idea and while we're at it can we explore Zeke and Amari Cooper's trade value too? Oh and why not Jaylon Smith and Vander Esche? Hell, let's just trade away all the talent on this team! Never mind half the team is on a one year deal and we must win now. We can trade half the roster now and just let the rest of it walk next year. Who the hell cares? We're exploring Dak's trade value!

Why would we trade Dak? I find it funny our critics here will tell you Cowboys can't win because of Jerry because of Jason and other coaches suck as well, we have hardly any talent on this team yet with Dak somehow this team has won the East 2 out of 3 years and never had a season below 500. Given all this why would I want to get rid of Dak? Seems he is able to overcome all the BS many here constantly complain about

The NFL has 53 player rosters, not 1 player rosters. Dak doesn't win them by himself.

Dak is a flawed QB as is, and the flaws will get even more of a chance to shine if we sign him long term. Then we'll be even more reticent to run him, which is his best trait relative to other QBs, leaving him to rely on his lest than best traits.

Missing throws i'm guessing....which all qb's do.

It would seem a rationale person would look at investing a 4th and minimal dollars and getting back a haul that includes a first and then some is good business.

Especially for a player that is limited.
I'm rolling with yer wisdom on this one T.M.
(
and there ought to be the intensified heat on the backsides of ALL Q.B.'s & practice squad safety's currently on the roster, in fine tuning their chosen craft, man, what was up with Cooper Rush in his last preseason showing? if I didn't know any better ,it was like the coaching staff had just unlocked the broom closet they'd shoehorned him into only on the days of preseason games,he had very noticeably devolved in capability)

And some throw ints more than others (Romos early career).
Some trolls are too dumb to know that the entire league threw more interceptions a decade ago and you can’t compare stats across eras.
Some also forget they threw considerably more touchdowns back then than Dak and that’s before adjusting for era.
Stick to QB winz and intangibles, you’re out of your element.

Total QBR 2018 LINK http://www.espn.com/nfl/qbr
IMHO Dak could easily rise in-between Wilson and Rivers in 2019. lets see when we have our center back and a new OC at work. this kid is a keeper and a lucky as hell moment for us in the 4th round.

1.
Patrick Mahomes
, 81.8
2 Drew Brees, 80.8
3 Mitchell Trubisky, 73.0
4 Ben Roethlisberger, 71.7
5 Andrew Luck, 71.7
6 Tom Brady, 70.5
7 Philip Rivers, 70.0
8 Jameis Winston, 68.3
9 Matt Ryan, 67.9
10 Jared Goff, 65.9
11 Russell Wilson, 65.6
12 Carson Wentz, 64.3
13 Deshaun Watson, 64.1
14 Kirk Cousins, 61.9
15 Andy Dalton, 61.8
16 Aaron Rodgers, 60.4
17 Dak Prescott, 57.7
18 Joe Flacco, 57.3
19 Marcus Mariota, 55.6
20 Cam Newton, CAR 55.6

For those of you who look at this QBR list and think its blasphemy.

QBR is a more complete and meaningful alternative to the passer rating, which remains the official NFL measure of quarterback performance. The calculation of the NFL passer rating is much simpler than the QBR, as it depends only on aggregate statistics rather than an analysis of each play a quarterback is involved in. However, this calculation is based on purely arbitrary coefficients, and is not based on how the game actually operates. Additionally, passer rating double counts completion percentage, favoring quarterbacks who tend to throw screens and other short passes. Passer rating is calculated using each quarterback's passing attempts, completions, yards, touchdowns and interceptions, and has a maximum value of 158.3 and minimum value of 0.

Passer rating ignores large parts of a quarterback’s performance. It ignores sacks, fumbles, designed runs and scrambles, which punishes mobile QB’s. It also does not put plays into its proper context. For example, a 5-yard gain on second-and-5 is very different from a 5-yard gain on third-and-10. Total QBR takes this into account with EPA. Passer rating treats all yards, whether they are air yards or yards after catch, as equally belonging to the QB.

Bingo! Let the noodle arm play out his contract and then franchise him at 30 mil and there you go. Youve got him for 2 years at 15 mil a year and if you dont know by then that he is or isnt a franchise QB then he is not! Thats what Ive been saying for a while now. Dak lovers hate hearing this but its a realistic way to handle Dak.
