Dallas should franchise Flozell immediately

This would box him and his agent into dealing with Dallas on a reasonable contract.

Dallas has the right to Franchise him two years consecutive and that is all we need to devolp Free and McQuistan.

It may hurt his feelings, but who cares, he has gotten two contracts from the team and he hasn't always lived up to them.

Protect the teams blind side Jerah...

I think we should first offer him a reasonable 2-3 year contract.

Don't offer him the moon, but a reasonable, fair contract. For all we know, he may want to stay in Dallas as long as the compensation is in-line.

He's going to play on a winner, he's got a ligitimate shot at a Super Bowl, he probably has a lot of ties here given he's been here for so long, etc.

If Flo really wants a Super Bowl ring, his time is running out. He knows this.

As long as the money is fair, I'd bet he'd stay at a shot at a ring.

I think we are looking at a changing of the guard at LT this year. I wouldn't offer Flo anything more than what he would likely consider an insult. If the Cowboy brass feels like one of the pups can take over that really seals the deal.

Flo knows he can get $10 mil a year from the Dolphins.

He's not staying.

Time to move on. We need to let go of age at some point. I hope JJ learned his lesson about giving big contracts to aging stars in the hopes of squeezing some more juice out of them.

I think Landry and Knolls will both tell you the reason they lost their jobs was because they tried to hold onto aging stars.

Let him go.

TH, you strike me as the sort that believes they still have money in their checking account just because they have checks left.

Right now AdamJT13 is projecting about $18 mil in cap space before:

- We sign our rookies INCLUDING two first round draft picks
- We resign our restricted FA's like Canty and Barber
- We resign Hamlin
- We attempt to resign Davis
- We attempt to extend Newman's contract

You take $7-$9 million out of our cap space for Adams... and there isn't going to be much left at this point.

I think we have to give him a new contract - or nothing at all.

Unless we have intentions on releasing some other players who have big numbers and would equate to big savings. Maybe guys like Ferguson, or Ellis, or Glenn, Henry or someone. I have no idea what those players numbers are, but something like that.

Otherwise, the Flo franchise option isn't realistic, I don't think. We have to give him a new contract, or let him go. I'd be fine either way. We do need to move away from him eventually, but he was FANTASTIC last season. So either way, I think there's a huge amount of risk.

Since it's AdamJT13 I'm going to guess he's added what he thinks the cap will be raised to this year as well.

Did Adam's cap number (the $18mm we have remaining under the cap) include assumptions for the cap being raised? Or was the $18mm number based on the existing cap figure?

It took into account both the estimated cap figure for 2008 and the extra cap money we were able to creatively move from this year's cap into next years.

o.k. thanks.

Definitely no franchise tag for Flo then.

It's either a reasonable contract, or he's gone.

Either him or Columbo needs to go....I prefer Adams talent...but I like Columbos attitude. This team is much shorter on attitude than it is on talent. So I say let Houck earn his money coaching one of the young guys up and let Adams go.

He's played exceptionally well and he'll be 32 in a few months.
I know it would be a mistake to let him go with Bill when he's still
has a good amount of years to be playing at this same level.

I have always liked Flozell but it's time to move on. He'll get another fat contract some where else.

I'd like to re-sign him as well. But it doesn't make sense to overpay for him at this stage of his career. And I think if we were to franchise him, we'd get a bit too tight under the cap to bring in other FAs we may need.

I just don't get the feeling JJ would franchise Flo.

But I guess a lot depends on what the staff think about Free and McQuisten.

I guess depending how hard JJ goes after re-signing Flo will give us some type of indication on how the staff feels on Free and McQ to man the LT spot.

I guess Flo situation will be determined by how the coaching staff feels about McQuistan, Marten and Free. If they feel one of these guys is ready to step into the spot then Flo is expendable if not then Dallas will have to do what they can to bring Flo back

I don't know, if Jerry can persuade him to stay on for the potential for a SB
ring and a fair contract, that's all he should. My fear is what replaces him.

Would it be possible to franchise him to see if a team will part with a draft pick for him (say Parcells?)
