Possible but I doubt it, Miami draft picks will be gold for them and if they have to give up a pick to get him I don't think they will

If we non-exclusive franchise him, other teams can negotiate with him. If it's non-exclusive, and we decide not to match other team's offers, we get two first round picks.

With a player like Flo, that is very unlikely.

I wish we had a bit more information on how Free is progressing and whether the staff feels he's ready . . . .

I think depending on how hard JJ goes after Flo in the next 2 months will offer us some information on what they think about Free and the others.

That in my view is the key you can't allow Flo to leave unless you know that you have someone in place who can do the job.

It would eat up about 10 million in cap space and would kill anything we want to do in FA

Jerry already thinks that when he talked last year about Davis moving out there so Flo is gone it is the price of FA (Flo is gone)

The starting LT is going to come down to Free; Mat q or Davis

If thats what happens, then thats what happens. McQuistan has been waiting in the wings for awhile. Free looks promising, but if it has to happen now I'm damn glad Houck is back to help curb the issues that occur with left tackle replacement.

If Davis moves to LT, then it will be official. Jerry Jones has returned to form now that most of the Parcells clan has left. It will be a dark road ahead.

He talked about that as a possibility never a sure thing. I would think Dallas will talk with Flo and if a deal can't be reached then we may see one of these option at LT

I doubt it they had time to talk to him; the writing was on the wall when Jerry made that statement Flo is gone done deal. He is going to get payed by someone that is close to the playoffs and need a Lineman bad. Look for a team like the Texans or Cleveland or someone in that range to make him an offer we would not

You very well could be right but I don't think anything is a done deal at this stage. The staff will sit down and discuss all of this along with Jerry and do what they feel is in the best interest. I don't take anything as gospel in the NFL allot of things that get said only end up changing

Don't forget that by cutting Glenn and Ferguson we add about $4 million back to the cap.

Flo will not command $10 million on the market. We can likely have him for not much more than he counted this year, based on what other LTs of his age are making.

How people forget the year Adams went down with an injury.

How much of a guarantee is it that Free, McQuisitan, and Marten can replace Flo and maintain the offensive production?

I would rather not find out next season.

That would depend on if the coaches feel one of these guys is ready to take over. None of us really know how far along these other players are. So while it is a unknown to us it may not be that much of an unknown for the coaches who work with these guys day in and day out.

That is a strong possibility.

I believe that Akin Ayodele is long for the roster either.

As a general rule if you're even considering franchising a player, you don't let him walk away for nothing. Offer him a reasonable contract and if he doesn't accept it, throw the tag on him even if you have no intention of keeping him. You might get some kind of draft pick compensation from another team. You might come to terms with the player. You have options. Don't ever let him walk away for nothing.

Jerry would still have room to go after free agents and that tag can always be lifted at any time.

We'll only save $500,000 by cutting him. So, he might not be starting, but he'll certainly be on the team.

That sucks. Thought it was more than that.

But if we draft another ILB, he still might get the chop.

All of those guys are a much better alternative than Torrin Tucker. :laugh2:
