Dallas showing interest in Crabtree?

Though it may not be true, it's an intriguing idea, nonetheless.

We all know Jerry has shown Crabtree a little love in the past, so this wouldn't be COMPLETELY out of the realm of possibilities.

Got this from a Detroit Lions forum:
http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=93&f=1801&t=4582491

"103.3 FM in Dallas. Dallas has placed a call to the 49ers front office."

Any of you in Dallas hear anything?

edit:

someone just posted on the Lions page that it might be false.

Entirely false. There is no way that this would happen. No matter how fast my heart started beating when I saw the thread title.

Yes, it is.

How so? Are teams not allowed to trade draft rights after the draft or something? Or does it have something to do with the "rookie cap?"

If it is legal, then I don't see why Jerry shouldn't/wouldn't at least give them a call. He could probably be had pretty cheaply (i.e. in regards to what we would have to trade them....he could very well re-enter the draft).

He wont re enter the draft, he will sign, and he will be a 49er for a good few years, at the very least.

If he is ever a Cowboy, it will be the way Roy Williams became one.

Offer Stanback for Crabtree. But first send a couple of Zone members to tell the Niners about all the potiential he has! I mean, they do need a QB.

It would not shock me at all if Jerry did call to inquire. He was the player the Cowboys wanted pretty badly.

Did he call? I really doubt it. We don't have Dexter Coakley any more. He can't help us get everyone in a trade.

This is such BS it's not even funny.

First of all Crabtree isn't going to sit out the season. That line of posturing by his agent is the dumbest of all dumb moves. First of all he won't be selected as high next year as he was this year because no team wants to deal with his contract demand drama. Mike Williams pulled that same little trick and it was a disaster. If Crabtree follows his agent's advice and DOES sit then he's an idiot and even Jerry is sick of the idiot parade here in Dallas.

Second, IF the league and the Players Union come to a collective bargaining agreement, you can bet that a rookie cap will be at the top of the priority list for the owners. If by some chance that takes place before next year's draft (not likely, but possible) then Crabtree has just screwed himself out of millions and millions of dollars.

Third, everytime an outlandish idea pops in the head of a hack journalist or media talking head the Dallas Cowboys is at the top of the list as teams that will jump the shark. 99 times out of 100 they are flat out wrong and their total display of incompetence is ignored like the calling cards of so many hard working ladies that litter the streets of Las Vegas.

Anyone that buys this is as gullible as gullible can be.

BTW I heard we just offered our entire draft next year for Darren McFadden and Darius Heyward Bey..............................

Jerry wouldn't be doing his job as GM if he didn't at least call to kick the tires.

Bro all this was discussed in the 9 page thread regarding his COUSIN'S claim he would sit out.

Not his agent, not Crabtree.

And its obvious to anyone who can read, that this is never going to happen. There is -100% chance that he gets traded to anyone before he signs. Let alone us.

Didn't Elway tell the Colts he would never sign with them?

Yep, and Dorsett sent similar signals to Seattle.

This is such a different situation.

He's holding out and being an idiot for money, not because he hates the 49ers, even though he should.

Its all moot! Hes signing with them, he will play for them. He will never be a Cowboy unless its years from now.

Everything you say is true. This is about money.

However, to suggest the mechanics of trading can't be done - which you may not be suggesting - is inrcorrect.

I'd also like to poiunt out that if Jerry were to publically state he called to just make an inquiry - which may not be a violation of the rules - Crabtree could very well state he will not play for the 9ers.

In which case this is EXACTLY like both Elway and Dorsett.

Not saying any of this will come to pass. But it is theoretically possible.
