Isn't there a deadline for an unsigned drafted player to be traded?

Everything you say is true. This is about money.

However, to suggest the mechanics of trading can't be done - which you may not be suggesting - is inrcorrect.

I'd also like to poiunt out that if Jerry were to publically state he called to just make an inquiry - which may not be a violation of the rules - Crabtree could very well state he will not play for the 9ers.

In which case this is EXACTLY like both Elway and Dorsett.

Not saying any of this will come to pass. But it is theoretically possible.

Yeah I never said it "legally" lol for a lack of a better term, can't happen.

I am just saying it won't. The Cowboys WILL NOT trade for Crabtree. He WILL sign with the team that drafted him.

And yes anyone who has seen any of my posts on him know that there is nothing more I could possibly want than for him to be a Cowboy.

1st rounder and Tashard Choice

I'd put Barber in the place of Choice, but the cap hit would be too big. You deal from a strength to strengthen a weakness.

I know, I know - it's not going to happen...just having fun with it.

However unlikely, what would you say would be the asking price? Can't be as much as we paid for Roy.

Why would the Niners even do that? RB is the one position where they're actually strong.

Bro all this was discussed in the 9 page thread regarding his COUSIN'S claim he would sit out.

Not his agent, not Crabtree.

And its obvious to anyone who can read, that this is never going to happen. There is -100% chance that he gets traded to anyone before he signs. Let alone us.

May I edit a certain sentence in your reply, And its obvious to anyone who has less than half a clue, that is never going to happen...

why some people believe these half baked clueless postings from other non credibale sites about Crabtree being traded, or that Dallas was really interested in him, is beyond me..

Yes. The 49ers hold his rights up until the 2010 Draft actually happens. At which time if he is still unsigned he goes back into the Draft.

He'll never do that. He would lose so much money. This is all posturing for more money. It's all about who blinks first.

I know the Cowboys were seriously high on the guy. It wouldn't shock me if Jerry did inquire, but I really think this is a baseless rumor.

I do not believe this it true and I'm pretty sure it would be impossible to make work. I believe Crabtree would have to fit under our rookie salary cap which we have surely used up because we have signed all our picks. If I recall correctly, this happened the year we signed Hutchinson. He was technically a rookie and we had to fit him under or rookie pool along with all the other draftees and they did not increase the amount to account for him. If that is the case here, this would be impossible to make work.

Adam is obviously the guy to answer this, but coluld the Cowboys even sign Crabtree if they traded for him? Wouldn't he have to be included in their rookie cap limit, which I can't imagine was all that high given we didn't take anyone on Day 1.

Now that would get my blood pumping. Still too bad we don't have Coakley to offer in a trade.
