Dallas valued Zeke more than Ramsey

With both Ramsey and Zeke on the board, and Dallas choosing Elliot, it's clear who they ranked higher. Had the Chargers taken Ramsey, and our ensuing pick had been Elliot, we might have never truly known who they held in higher regard (it was heavily reported Ramsey and then Elliot). Now that question is fully squashed.

But <<donns M.Night Shamalamama wizard hat>>...what if our top target was Bosa all along? I know, I know, the pre-draft conference gave off an air that they weren't interested in him at all. Jerry also did some double-speak about Zeke and suggested that the shelf-life of a RB and the value of the #4 pick (I took it as, it would be a great asset to have but a short-lived one). By that same token, you could see them beaming about what a dynamic player Ramsey was.

Smokescreen? Do you think they would have taken Bosa over Zeke if available? Me? I don't know, but am glad we took Elliot over Bosa.

Well, duh. We picked Elliot

Jones just said that Elliott was the highest rated player on their board.

I just watched the presser.................Jerry said he knows it is a cliché, but that Elliot truly was number one on their draft board.

He also said that it was Garrett that sold him on the idea of taking Zeke, that Garrett considers him a "foundation player".

So for everybody that hates the pick, you can thank Garrett for it.:D

Seems to me that after San Diego took Bosa that the movers and shakers of the Dallas staff got who they really wanted in Zeke. Although I was originally in favor of Ramsey by the slimmest of margins, I was tickled pink to see a RB of his quality become our new player. I think that the team as a whole would have benefitted with either Zeke or Ramsey as their initial pick. As it turns out, it looks like both Romo and the team as a whole will reap the benefits of an extremely strong RB corps. Zeke should provide what this team has missed since Murray left. I think Elliott's blocking should also help to keep Tony upright for the remainder of his career in Dallas while also providing Dallas with the best RB available in the draft. Hopefully we'll be able to bolster the defense with respect to the pass rush and the secondary within the remainder of the draft.

Duh back at you, fwiend. You obviously didn't read my post and the original title (before altered by God or some spiteful mod) was:
"Dallas valued Zeke more than Ramsey......but"

...and rightfully so. 3 INTs in Ramsey's ENTIRE college career? That's a huge red flag for me. Media hyped him up as a playmaker.

Drafting Zeke is a need, not a luxury. Morris' production dipped every year. He's on a 2 year deal. McFadden has a long injury history. We can't rely on him and he's on the last year of his deal. Dunbar is injured right now.

We needed a bell cow and man oh man did we get one. And to boot, he is only 20.

We saw what a strong running game did for us in 2014. Give me some more of that. I guarantee you our OL is licking their chops right about now!

Lots of CBs don't get a lot of picks in college. Ronald Darby had 2 in his career and had 2 as a rookie.

You are all wrong, the Cowboys had Wentz targeted but when he went at #2 they turned to the Defense. This is where it gets funny, in choosing Zeke over Ramsey they concluded that having him was better for the defense than Ramsey. Keeping the defense off the field was a higher priority than the player himself. Was this a good plan? Only time will tell.

There was a reaction in the room when Bosa went 3rd overall. Whether that's because they had Bosa rated way low and were surprised, or because they were targetting him - they'll never say.

Let be real
This was a reach and hope pick by the FO to 'prolong Romos career' period

This is more about the power Romo and Garrett have in the organization unfortunately.

If we get a SB out if this then we made the right decision and I will eat crow
If we are still a middling team then we made a horrible decision because hopefully we will not be picking this high for a long time

At this moment I'm for firing any coach that was for drafting Zeke at 4. He won't make any difference to this team and now we still have the same numerous weak links on the team. Jones family has screwed this team up so bad. The draft is ruined so I'm done with it. Romo/Bryant/Elliot... is that a Super Bowl winning core? I think not. I don't see it. Disappointment.

Monster D also shared on the chat page last night a deal with SF fell apart at the last second again cementing Zeke was their guy all along. They were fine moving to 7 with a very good chance he would still have been there. He is here now and that is all that matters.
