We drafted a 5 year player. Hope it's an awesome 5 years.

The only position groups that stand to have a longer tenure on NFL rosters are Punters, Kickers, and offensive linemen. With that being said people are talking about 5 year player? At 4th overall give me the guy who will have his hands on the ball the 2nd most times on the average and who can carve our a 7-10 year career. I'll take an AD Peterson like career from Elliott. DBs don't last much longer than RBs in the NFL these days.

There was a reaction in the room when Bosa went 3rd overall. Whether that's because they had Bosa rated way low and were surprised, or because they were targetting him - they'll never say.

The reaction was they were on the clock and it was time to stop laughing and back slapping and get to work, which we now know included trade calls from Baltimore at least.

People read too much into the camera.

Nothing in your post is factual. RBs have the shortest career, on average, then any other position in the NFL.

And the reason why people are referencing 5 years is because at the 4th pick, Elliott just became a Top 10 highest paid TB in football. If he has a good 5 years, his next contract demands are going to dwarf that of pretty much most running backs. Cowboys have said they don't want to invest a lot of money into a position they don't think lasts long. So it's probably unlikely that in 5 years, after 5 years of NFL use, the Cowboys are going to want to give a huge contract to a TB.

So it's quite possible, you just used the 4th pick in the draft on a guy that you probably don't want after 5 years.

It was the safe pick and i can see why they did it. barring injury its likely to be successful because its the most sheltered position on the dallas roster.

My hope is that elliott plays real well and romo retires and a young qb falls into their lap in the following draft so that the cost savings at that position can offset elliott's massive contract while benefitting from a rb that can carry the offense with a great oline that can protect him while he learns to run an nfl offense. If they have a vet qb making starting qb money, then elliott's contract will be an albatross in 5 years(assuming he plays the way everyone already has him pencilled in to play).

This isnt the pick i would have made but its definitely very possible that it will work out to be the best even in the long term.

I think all the Ramsey lovers should get BELLCOW tattooed on their foreheads today as a mark of shame.

Apparently Elliott can't be a bellcow now. We have to keep him fresh over the next 5 years so we need to limit his carries.

With both Ramsey and Zeke on the board, and Dallas choosing Elliot, it's clear who they ranked higher. Had the Chargers taken Ramsey, and our ensuing pick had been Elliot, we might have never truly known who they held in higher regard (it was heavily reported Ramsey and then Elliot). Now that question is fully squashed.

I would have rather not known this organization was so stupid.

Ignorance is bliss.

I assume you know this by now, but Jerry Jones said the Ravens wanted to move up to take Zeke.

Which has been refuted by ESPN and some Baltimore Ravens reporters. They wanted Ramsey at 4.

Of course, they're going to say the Ravens wanted Ramsey at 4. What team wants to admit they missed out on a player or a trade didn't work out in their favor, especially one so close they can taste it?

Again, I'm a primary source person. Jerry is a primary source. ESPN and Baltimore reporters are secondary sources.

I wanted Ramsey, but the Cowboys would not have used him properly anyway... To me, Ramsey is not a CB, but he's a damn fine Safety... Byron Jones on the other hand, I'm not exactly sure what he is, other than a really good TE stopper, but I think I know what he isn't, and he's not a FS... Maybe he'll prove me wrong, but unlike Ramsey, I don't think Jones plays physical enough to be an impact player at FS...

Since when are free safeties known to be physical? And Jones is plenty physical enough. Please give him more than one season to figure out the league.
