you guys are all missing the point.

do you know how many things in a one point game could have swayed the outcome?

you are only focused on the end, b/c it was the end. the truth is this game was won AND lost in the events leading up to it.

the bottom line is...the mavs did not do enough to win.
a made shot here, a heat miss there, an extra rebound here, a made free throw there, and the last call doesn't matter.

they weren't good enough. period.

Let's assume for a minute you are right, how would the ref over 20 feet away and behind the play see that foul? Did he magically see through Wade's thigh?

IMO, it was an anticipation foul that the refs gave Wade because they wanted to be sure he had a chance to win the game.
The ref was in the correct position for a 3-person called game. From the angle he was in, the ref is supposed to see THROUGH the players. Meaning, he needs to set himself up so that he can see the play and not get blocked by the offensive player. And you can clearly see him thru the players from the opposite side...even in the pics you have posted.

I agree refs call anticipation fouls. I've done it myself. Sometimes you can wave it off as an inadvertent whistle. But I don't think that was the case in this situation. This was a legit call.

How many offensive fouls can Wade commit in one posession?

I agree. Because ultimately the players have to do the little things during the game to get the win.

I just like to debate officiating calls. I'm no expert, but I like to think I know a lil somethin-somethin :)

That could also be called a reach in on Howard IMO

Because Wade reached across his body to grab his groin? Okay.....

Howard is clearly not reaching for the ball, he is just moving

Just pointing out that things can be seen differently by different people.

How "differently" can throwing Terry into the scorer's table be seen?
He lost his balance when Wade spun away from him just like Byron Russell did in Utah :D

I feel sorry for the mavs. The officiating in miami has been abysmal. The mavs go from a +3 in free throws, to a -38 in miami disgraceful. Last night's free throw disparate was the largest in 40 freakin years. I cant stand the Miami Cheat, but im not worried because the mavs will be the beneficiary of some home cookin come tuesday night. No way do the mavs lose game 6!!!!!

This is BS... I already posted something refuting the logic behind this "they weren't good enough" crap. The final margin was 1 point!!! They were clearly good enough. Yeah they didn't play great, but the Heat didn't exactly light the world on fire. Wade had a good game. It wasn't even a great game by Wade, he had a great 4th quarter yes, but he was 3-13 in the first half.

Here's the thing, if the outcome had been a Mavs one point win, you could have said the heat weren't good enough cause they can't shoot free throws (65%). If the Mavs had lost by 20 points, then you can say "they weren't good enough." If it's a close game, which can be one by either team, logically both teams are "good enough" to win the game.

Oh and the pic showing Harris' foul is a good one. But that doesn't mean the foul was a "good call." They gave it to the wrong guy.... doesn't that mean they "saw" Dirk foul Wade?? Why would they blow the whistle for a foul and give it to the wrong guy (who clearly didn't foul)?? I HATE blaming the refs, but trying to take up for them when they're obviously wrong is just as bad.

Anyways, Around the Horn made me feel better today... The consensus of Cowlishaw, Plaschke, Elliott, and Marriotti was the Mavs were getting jobbed. Not that it changes anything, but gives me some peace of mind.

Oh wow, I never even thought about this, but Terry got fouled on the last shot in regulation. Guess who hacked him?

Wow....

Rumors are coming out of Miami last night that after the game, Mark Cuban found David Stern in the stands, pointed at him, stared him down, and said "F you, F you, this thing is rigged"

Damn

I heard it was basically a stare down but I hadn't heard about him cursing him out and accusing the NBA of being rigged.

If he did, he went way to far and that makes me start to wonder if they could force Cuban to sell the team for those type of accusations.

I don't think they can force Cuban to do anything with something he owns

Shaq doesnt scare me in the least. He has been outplayed by Erick freaking Dampier to this point in the series.

Miami hasnt won in Dallas since 2002, 6 straight losses, 5 by double digits, 2 by at least 20

The first couple of game Dampier out played Shaq....I'll give you that BUT the last two games aren't even close. Shaq has outplayed Dampier by a wide margin.

Game 1
Shaq 17 pts 7 rbs
Damp 8 pts 7 rbs

Game 2
Shaq 5 pts 6 rbs
Damp 6 pts 13 rbs

Game 3
Shaq 16 pts 11 rbs
Damp 14 pts 9 rbs

Game 4
Shaq 17 pts 13 rbs
Damp 0 pts 4 rbs

Game 5
Shaq 18 pts 12 rbs
Damp 5 pts 8 rbs

And before you even say I know you'll dismiss it and say the refs allowed Shaq to bully him around more in Miami

I fully expect Dallas to come out smoking tonight and tie it up and probably win in 7.
