I guess the point some would make is if he misses gimme kicks at huge moments for one team, he might well do it for another

If they sign him I hope it works out...it would be funny as hell if we sign him and 6 days later he beats the Skins in DC with a game ending FG...

Or he shanks a chip shot again and we lose.:(

There are only two other people that can kick field goals on the planet, and Suisham is one of them? ***???? We are worried Folk is going to miss one and cost us a game, so we want to go sign a guy who has missed two that did cost his team games? What planet did I land on?

Dude, I feel your pain but we are in a ****ty situation right now. It is week 15 and our kicker cant even make a FG from PAT range.

All the good kickers currently have jobs, so we have to go find somebody off the trash heap. Anybody currently available doesnt have a job for a reason, they missed kicks and some of those kicks were game winners.

If they would have made those kicks, they would still be employed. So, that is the situation we are in and its ****ty, I agree, but what the hell else can we do at this point???

stop kicking. make everything inside 35 4 down territory and bring in Buehler for the chip shots. Can't be worse. And with our running game, this could really work. as you said, guys like Shuisham are available for a reason, we won't pick up Mr.Clutch if we cut Folk.

Even with a new kicker, we need to look at FGs as a 50/50 shot (regardless of distance). We need to go into the game with the mindset that if we have to kick a FG, there is a 50% chance we miss if.

So when it is 4th down, we need to look at our playbook and if there is a play that we think has a better than 50% chance of working.......go for it.

Seriously, I would rather give the ball to Romo on 4th down than send Suisham out there to kick a freaking FG.

The Cowboys are scheduled to work out free agent PK Shaun Suisham on Monday.
The club is looking to replace Nick Folk, and also gave Dave Rayner a call. Rookie kickoff specialist David Buehler does not appear to be an option.

I dont know so I am asking.... Buehler not an option??

2 kickers and we are looking for another... Hos you are loving this right? lol... sigh....

What's really odd about Folk's pre-game shank show in New Orleans is even consistently horrible kickers usually drill all their kicks out to 40 yards before the bright lights come on. With no pressure of the game, that's a kick they make in practice with their eyes closed. It's like an NBA player shooting free throws in practice - they probably make 9 out of 10. Folk wasn't even close on several of those kicks.

I remember him missing a short one at Dallas right before halftime. Are we sure he's a better option than Folk?
We could dig up Lou Groza and he would be more reliable than Nick Folk at this stage. That footage of his warmups at the Superdome sealed it for me.

Man, no kidding.

But no, after seeing that display of his pregame warmups, I think he has to go, even if the next guy isn't much better. :(

yea, the nice long kick he made right down the middle gave me a sigh of relief. then when they showed him shanking everything around in pregame, i was like "hell, is he gonna miss this....

DINK....

i made up new cuss words.

hence the reason why we've not done anything yet. there just isn't anyone out there to install warm fuzzies in any of us.

Considering all the different scenarios during the season that's been discussed, disected, argued, etc. I really never thought about the kicking situation maybe being the thing that screws us at the end of the season.
Of course, I think most of us started smelling something fishy with Folk in the last several weeks but the 24 yd. miss which should have been a gimme and sealed the game rather than giving everyone a heart attack was the straw that broke the camels back. Whoever the Cowboys sign, I sure hope is good enough to keep us in this thing till the end and beyond. It would be great if it didn't come down to the FG kicker but what are the chances???

Is Septien out of prison yet? These options are not exciting.

Septien was named to the Cowboys' 40th anniversary team in 2000. He lives in Cancún, Mexico. Currently he is working as a timeshare salesman for NH Krystal Hotels.

Problem is he's 56 years old now.

But how bad is Buehler if he cant do much better. geez

I don't think he is worse just rusty from not having kicked FGs in ages. Now is not the time to wait for Folk to snap out of his slop of Buehler to knock the rust off with the playoffs on the line though :bang2:

This makes no sense - there are *342* NCAA Division I schools, SOMEONE has graduated recently that can make a 25 yarder that isn't on a roster.

calm down gents: rayner is serviceable IMO: suisham sucks and shouldn't be in consideration IMO: I would also think that Mike Nugent, Nick Novak and/or Jason Elam will be brought in....ALL are better options than Folk who is toast for now.....

ONe more thing- we all KNOW kickers are freaks. This might be a guy like Rayner's last real shot at sticking with a team. He knows that and what does he really have to lose? Not much....who knows he might go on a run...it's happened before.

PS- I HATE kickers and everything they stand for.....

No ideas why you'd say Shuisam sucks... he has a higher make percentage in 2009 than any other option you listed. I really like Elam but he is done.

Yes, Shuisam missed two kicks versus us.. 1 a 50 yarder and yes he blew a game sealing kick in New Orleans BUT that's all he missed all year. He made every other kick all year.
