After seeing the reaction of players and fans from around the NFL, it would not be good for business to let Dak go for nothing. Tagging Dak will happen. There are teams that would trade at least a 1st round pick for him. I believe Dak will sign a long term deal. He would be stupid to play another season under the tag.

I can't help thinking like a fan....I am one from the 60's. The best business decision is to keep Dak if he can still play and that is what will happen as long as he is able.

Maybe you need to stop thinking like a Dallas Cowboys Fanzone troll.

I am also a 50+ year fan and if you look at any of my previous post you will see that I am hardly a troll.

I have been a fan long enough to know not to get emotional attached to players as the NFL stands for not for long.

I hope to live long enough to see a new owner, coaching staff, and a complete new 53 man roster. That's why I think like a team. Because in the end that's all that will exist.

Romo has now been gone for five years. A time will come when the same thing will be said of Prescott. Don't get emotionally attached to players. Treat football as a business and you will be able to understand my point of view.

It's cold and heartless, but it's the nature of the beast.

I don't think the odds are high for Dalton to perform at a level that makes the organization want to move away from Dak. But then who thought a rookie fourth round pick could make the organization move on from Romo? You truly never know.

I'm certainly rooting for a Foles-like situation where we achieve unprecedented success and the organization is left with a difficult decision on its hands.

Hmmm Brees 40, Brady 43, Rodgers 37, Fitzpatrick 38, Rivers 37, Ryan 35....33 is considered a baby for QB's in today's NFL, i am not comparing the talent of any of these guys to Dalton just their age

Sports radio was taking about this morning in San Fran but it was about Jimmy G. They were discussing to cut him and his 27 mill cap hit next year and sign Dak. Said the season has to play out but they don't think Jimmy is the answer in San Fran.

I have seen multiple threads of how Prescott should or shouldn't get paid next year.

The incredible twist now is how Andy Dalton and the team does the rest of the year will go a long ways to deciding his future and Prescott's with Dallas.

Scenario 1: Dallas doesn't win division or make playoffs. I think Dalton doesn't return and Prescott is franchised or signed long term.

Scenario 2: Dallas wins the division, but loses in wildcard round. I think Dalton is used as leverage against Prescott. If Prescott doesn't sign a team friendly deal, Dallas then signs Dalton to a 2 to 3 year deal at 20 million per(like Bridgewater) till the next quarterback is found. Prescott is exclusively tagged. If there are no takers before free agency the tag is rescinded and Prescott becomes free agent(should net 3rd round pick).

Scenario 3: Dallas wins divison and wins more than one playoff game. Dallas is now between a rock and a hard place. Dalton gets resigned, but his asking price just went up north of 25 million per. Dallas uses exclusive tag on Prescott, but if there are no takers, hits free agency. Same as scenario 3.

Scenario 4: Dallas wins SB. Dalton is signed to a long term deal(four years)and Prescott is done in Dallas.

The only scenario I see that Prescott comes back is Dallas not having a successful 2020. The more success Dallas has, the chances Prescott comes back drops with each victory.

Ironically, Prescott has to root against Dallas for his future in Dallas.

The only way Dalton even sparks a conversation about not signing Dak is if he gets this team to the Super Bowl. 8-8 and one and done in the playoffs aint gonna get it done. And the only way even winning the wildcard round sparks any conversation is if Dalton throws for like 400 yards and 4 TDs in a losing cause in the divisional. I see this as being very similar to the Wentz/Foles situation. Foles went in and had a nice 7 game hot stretch but the Eagles knew who their future was at QB. Maybe Pederson is smarter than our coaches.. Time will tell.

The irony of this is unreal. Dalton takes the job as the backup behind a QB that hasn't missed a snap because of injury in hopes of proving that he can still be a QB1 in the league in a place he's unlikely to get that chance unless the team is blowing another out or the most unlikely happens, QB1 goes down for the season.

Now, he's in a situation he could only dream about if he wanted the attention of the other teams in the QB market. It is public knowledge that the Cowboys have one of the most suspect OL's in the league and the worst defense. They just gave up 34 points to the New York "doesn't matter if it's lower double digits scoring, it's still double" Football Giants. They scored 47 in the previous 4 games.

The question isn't how Dalton will perform; it is how will they protect him? The DC's are going to stack the box against Elliott and force the game in Dalton's hands and they will be coming for him.

if he takes us to the super bowl and wins, it won't change anything for dak any more than folse's performance did for wentz. dak's our guy. that won't change. and if he does well, we won't be able to afford to keep them both. ergo, dandy andy goes somewhere else and gets big bucks there.
