Overshown played 1 play on the first 3 drives, a run that went away from where he was lined up.

He played extensively on the 4th drive. He got beat by a crossing RB for a 10 or so yard gain. He tackled Kamara after a 4-5 yard gain, then he made one of the few defensive plays made by any Cowboy when he tackled Taysom Hill one on one for no gain. He probably took the wrong lane on the TD and got blown up by the Saint's LG, but the Cowboys' D was awful on that play, poorly aligned, everyone got blocked, not just 13. He wasn't on the field for the 5th TD drive. He was only on the field for 3 plays on the 6th drive, not really much negative or positive there.

DO wasn't benched because of poor play, 50 & 18 played most of the 6 TD drives, both were terrible. You can point to one or two mistakes DO might have made pre-garbage time, but that was certainly no worse than the entire D yesterday.

None of the linebackers are very good.

#13 is built like a safety. He’s not shedding blocks or running thru anyone.

Clark sucks. Simple as that.

Kendricks is the only guy the Cowboys have to play the middle which is an issue I had coming into the season. For that reason he wont be coming off the field much. Clark was nothing to brag about but did OK, Liufau wasnt very good but I think they were both better than Overshown, at least against the run. The guy simply isn't a good fit against heavier packages from the offense. Honestly go rewatch the game and look the plays at:

2nd Quarter:
7:03
6:16
4:47
2:54

4th Quarter
12:59

That last play in Q2 was embarrassingly bad. The entire series he was in starting at 7:43 in Q2 he simply cannot take on a block, even when he had a blocker beat he couldnt power through.

Dont get me wrong either, I think Overshown is going to be a pro bowler before its all said and done, but this was not a very good performance and I completely understand why Zim would pick and choose his spots with Overshown right now.
The way the defense played yesterday, I don't think Zimmer has the luxury of not having his best players on the field as much as possible.

I think the LBs will look good against teams that don’t punch them in the mouth. There is nothing special about this group and the Ravens are likely to make them look the same this week. They should all be pro bowlers against the Giants though.

I'm just not sure that yesterday Overshown was one of his best players though. One of the best on passing down. One of the highest motor players. He has to get better in the run game though, he just had no chance at getting off a block. If that doesnt change he might be best suited for a hybrid LB/S role.

You're not wrong, but thats how bad Overshown was yesterday. He's a plus player at times, pretty consistently so in the pass game, but I think you or I could have blocked him yesterday.
that's a big shame. damn

The worst linebacker was number 50, he was like molasses
i made a thread that i don't think was ever approved for whatever reason about kendricks. it's CRAZY what a revelation he looked like week 1. dpow buzz and seemed like the answer to our woes, to looking old, slow, and washed always out of position or whiffing week 2. *sigh*

Why did I see Damone Clark and Liafau so much? Where was Overshown? Injury? Coaches decision?

And, Clark did not look good. Didn't need the all-22 to see that.
These three got schooled in what to do and what not to do if you want to be successful in the NFL. What I want to know is where was all world Kendricks in this game. The linebacker core got it's behind handed to them all game long. I know Zim has to take most of this blame for not having a plan to takeway the outside from NO. He kept his linebackers tight in the inside and NO flipped the switch on him and his defense. Where were the in-game adjustments??????? JJ speaking after the game that it's going to get fixed was a joke in it's self, he doesn't have a clue on how this is going to get fixed! GOD help the Boys next week when the Ravens run for a 1,000 yards...............

Overshown was a converted safety to LB at Texas. Remeber how that went around here last season? He got bigger but that dosent mean he can shed a tackle or guard blocking him. Even in the Cleveland game, he wasn't great at getting off blocks but he wowed everyone cause he has closing speed.

Personnel was an issue in the game on both sides... not sure what they were doing. The score/outcome really proved that one!

You never know with these guys. It’s week 2 they may still be trying to see what works. Which makes you wonder why do they just completely disregard preseason…..

Clark shouldn't see the field unless there is an injury. He is their worst linebacker and he showed it again last Sunday.
