Dan Bailey is currently listed as a Free Agent and available to sign. Maher was given numerous opportunities, why not Bailey? Aren't they basically the same age? Get Dan a ring

At this point, the team needs to be worried about XPs. I'm not saying Bailey is a good idea but if Mahar is shanking XPs, he's useless. Missing 5 out of your last 6 XPs should have Jerry & co. hitting the panic button.

But bringing in a guy who hasn't played since 2020 and struggled with XPs then probably isn't the solution either. I get Maher was atrocious on Sunday, but finding a reliable kicker isn't as easy as people want to make it out to be. Especially if you're going to bring someone in on a short week mid playoffs to go on the road to San Francisco. Plus Maher does your kickoffs too, which we can take for granted.

I stay with Mahar, he was over 90% of his kicks this year. If it was early in the season I would look to get a kicker but at this stage I would not have confidence in picking up a kicker who has sat the entire year.

Yeah it has a similar feel to last year when this board melted down over the Cowboys not signing Hajrullahu to a lifetime contract....then the dude couldn't make a kick to save his life in camp. There is a reason free agent kickers are free agents with so many bad kickers already on rosters.

He was not making them the last time he was playing which is why he is a FA. Right now he is just a name with past glory.

Maher had a bad case of over-correcting after missing that first kick and I think it just snowballed. Correcting too far to left, then the right. It was like watching me golf. When I slice one off the first tee I know I'm going to have a bad game cuz I'll be trying to correct the problem the rest of the game if I don't fix it on the next hole.

He's been solid all year and I'm sure he'll kick 100 xps this week in practice. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

I'm bringing in Vinateri. I'd have no trust issues whatsoever with that dude hitting XPs and it wouldn't even surprise me if he hit a 50 yard game winner. Dude was built to kick balls in the playoffs.

Nah its the postseason and you stick with the team that got you here. Should the Cowboys have brought in competition for Dak after the Washington game? Of course not. Guys can have bad games and bounce back.

Numerous opportunities .... in one game.

He's been great all year until the last game.

That's not to say the last game doesn't concern me. It very definitely does. But the Cowboys have to work with Maher this week to pull it together.

Maybe the Cowboys should consider signing someone just in case they aren't convinced later in the week that Maher is over this, but even if they made that decision a player who hasn't played in 2 years and last kicked FG's at a 68% rate, and XP's at an 86% rate, wouldn't be the best choice.

He missed right two times straight - then hooked left overcorrecting and then went back right. He choked and did not swing through. He would have been fine I bet with a 50 yard XP.

I bring in another kicker. What is he going to do with a XP to tie the game with 10 seconds left in the game. You'll want to take that chance?

So even if Vinatieri can get through this weeks game go 3-3 on XPs and make a 45 yard field goal what are you doing for kickoffs? What if you need an onside kick? What are you doing when the guys leg blows up twice it's size and cant play the following week?
