He missed right two times straight - then hooked left overcorrecting and then went back right. He choked and did not swing through. He would have been fine I bet with a 50 yard XP.

I bring in another kicker. What is he going to do with a XP to tie the game with 10 seconds left in the game. You'll want to take that chance?
Who is the alternate you are taking a chance on though? The best option I can think of would be like a Rodrigo Blankenship, but this would also be his 3rd team in two years. I have more faith in the guy who has been here all year rebounding from a bad performance.

The Texas A&M kicker would do better. Caden Davis is entering his redshirt junior season as the presumed starting kicker for Texas A&M, finally stepping out of the shadow of the former 4-year starting kicker for the Aggies, Seth Small. As one of the top kickers in the country in the 2019 recruiting class, Davis began his special team’s career at Coppell High School in Coppell, Texas, earning the 1st team kicking job during his 2016 sophomore season, making an exceptional 51/51 on PATs, and 15/20 with a long of 51 yards on field goals.
Bringing him in for the rest of the year would probably violates some rule though........

So even if Vinatieri can get through this weeks game go 3-3 on XPs and make a 45 yard field goal what are you doing for kickoffs? What if you need an onside kick? What are you doing when the guys leg blows up twice it's size and cant play the following week?
A lot of what ifs. One thing I know is not a what if is that our kicker has the shanks and will have absolutely no confidence kicking an extra point Sunday not to mention a potential game tying or winning kick. It's pure mental. That is NOT good at all with kickers. If the Cowboys have a 45 yard FG to win the game this weekend then we are going home. 100 % positive about that. Trust me, I'm not saying this to be negative, I will bring up a post right now of me just a few weeks ago laughing at all of you for hating on the Maher signing.

I was probably his biggest supporter. Not anymore, feel awful for him but he is done. He can't come back from 4 missed extra points. He would need a mentality like Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods to do that and Maher doesn't strike me as that type of guy.

For better or worse we must stick with Maher...he deserves that chance. He's kicked well...This week in practice they will be lining up and kicking without any reference because they know it is a no-no...

I had no problem with Lirim if he is still available. Kai Forbath

He hasn’t kicked in over TWO calendar years. So yes, he’s available

We could always just go for 2 every time - odds are 50-50 which works out better than last game!

Such a tough situation for Maher. What if Dallas scores on their first possession and he shanks the PAT, do they keep trying to kick the PAT or go for 2? What if he misses his first 2 PAT and its 14-12 in the 4thQ, Dak drives them down the field with less then 30 seconds and is setting them up for a game winning FG attempt? Mannnnnn oh man, he might completely miss the ball on the kick, never mind shanking it.

Josh Lambo or Rodrigo Blankenship would be your two best options per NBCSports

Dan Bailey is currently listed as a Free Agent and available to sign. Maher was given numerous opportunities, why not Bailey? Aren't they basically the same age? Get Dan a ring
Gario Yepremium is a free agent too!

We just have to agree to disagree here. Lirim was awful in camp and the reason Maher is here in the first place, and Forbath hasn't played since 2020. I'll stick with the devil I know. I wouldnt be against bringing these guys in for a workout, just in case we see another poor performance out of Maher, but I can't make the switch just yet.

Maher had a bad case of over-correcting after missing that first kick and I think it just snowballed. Correcting too far to left, then the right. It was like watching me golf. When I slice one off the first tee I know I'm going to have a bad game cuz I'll be trying to correct the problem the rest of the game if I don't fix it on the next hole.

He's been solid all year and I'm sure he'll kick 100 xps this week in practice. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
at this stage that is all any team can do. It would be different if it was middle of the season but right now any kicker you bring in there will be a lot of doubt if not more

Maher deserves the road. Abysmal.
