Over reaction-

Look if you want to bring in competition during the week cool. But don't elevate a 2nd kicker, you just go with the winner from the week and that will 100% be Maher.

Dan Bailey is currently listed as a Free Agent and available to sign. Maher was given numerous opportunities, why not Bailey? Aren't they basically the same age? Get Dan a ring

Maher is 90% FG percentage for the season. Bailey's last year was 68%.

Maher is 94% XP percentage for the regular season. 87% if you factor in the playoff game. Bailey's last year was 86%.
You are only as good as your last few games. Reality in NFL kickers. If you miss FIVE 33 yard FGs in 2 games you are in trouble.

I'm glad I was never employed by some of you. Have one bad day at the office and you want to bring in a guy off the street who hasn't worked in years.

Maybe so but the answer isn't bringing in a kicker on short notice who hasn't played in two years and was absolutely awful when he did. Even if you recognize the name.
I would have another kicker brought in this week and have them compete. Let see how they do against each other off grass.

I am not going into a sudden death game praying that Maher has conquered his yips and not do anything during the week.

Rather deal with the devil you know at this point of the season... He will be good as he has all year... Glad we didn't replace Dak after the Washington game... ;)

He hasn't played in a couple of years and couldn't make 70% of his kicks when he did.
Yep. Big difference between being available and being game-ready, much less playoff game-ready.

Down by six - gotcha. I didn’t get the last sentence of your post. Please repeat.

‘One bad day’…? Failure of epic NFL proportions. FIVE STRAIGHT PATs MISSED!! Never done before in a league nearly a century in existence.

But it’s ‘just a bad day at the office.’ YGBFKM

While I'm not opposed to working out a kicker or two reality is it's already Wednesday. You gonna bring in kickers to workout and create a distraction for your coaches on a short week when they could be doing something constructive for the guys who you know will actually be playing?

Maybe I'm wrong, I just don't get the logistics of making a kicking change in the playoffs on a short week and cant envision any scenario where Brett Maher isnt kicking this week aside from injury.
I don't think you make a kicking change unless Maher is struggling making kicks in practice. But bringing a couple guys in to be ready if needed makes a lot of sense. I don't know how much of a distraction it would actually be. Bones would probably be leading the evaluations for a couple of hours.

Maher has been money all year. He has one bad night and everyone completely abandons him. SMH.
