The bottom line is this entire team has failed to come up big when the Cowboys play "good" teams.

Dak is part of that. But to blame him only and to think changing quarterbacks is going to change everything is the easy, lazy, and myopic solution.

Dallas has gone through a whole bunch of quarterbacks since their last Super Bowl. Too many fans think getting rid of Dak is like waving a magic wand and suddenly the trophy case will start to fill again. Guess they weren't paying attention from 1996 through 2015.

Our game plans have been horrendous in big games. Seems like we get out coached every time.

Yea , Danny came up short but once he went down in 1986 Landry never sniffed the playoffs again with 3 consecutive losing seasons to end his legendary career.
Also Danny vs the Falcons in 78 was great. People remember 1980 but not that one quite as much.

Of course, Dan never won a SB.

That's the measuring stick in Cowboys land, SB or bust....
Maybe in your world. But we don’t measure greatness by SB or Bust. We’ve had some great QB’s in our history not named Aikman and Staubach.

Meredith was our 1st QB inducted into ROH. Morton was first to make a SB and 1st QB in NFL history to start a SB for two different teams. White of course won a SB as our punter in 1977 . And started QB for 3 straight NFC champ games.

No one who’s been a Cowboy fan throughout our illustrious history would ever bash any of these QB’s under Landry. It spanned our greatest history and run in Cowboys history with 20 consecutive winning seasons , 5 Super Bowl appearances in a decade and 12 NFC/NFL title game appearances in 17 years.

Not a question of greatness, all of the qbs you mentioned I would agree were "great".
"
But when talking about Cowboys quarterbacks, who are mentioned most often? Staubach and Aikman, who won SBs.

It's always those two and "the rest".

I was noting that Dak, for all his wins and stats, is still criticized roundly for his playoff shortcomings. Lots of NFL quarterbacks had great stats and lots of wins, but what's always noted on their resume? "Never won a SB"

There's a reason they play championship games, it's the point to playing. No team plays in the NFL just so they can win lots of games, the goal of any team that's even at least pretty good is to win the SB.

But that's fine, you're satisfied by just winning games, good for you, much easier to be a Cowboys fan that way. To each his own...

They are all playing to make money. That is the point to playing. They are playing for the next contract. Winning is secondary at best.

For some, sure. That's just human nature. But the NFL life is hard, physically if nothing else. Takes a LOT of money to get beat up for weeks on end, with lingering effects even after the season is over, and continuing to play.

An example there is Andrew Luck, he got paid very, very well but eventually the physical abuse and the constant rehabbing overrode the $$$$.

That is the nature of the business. It is a contact sport. Career could be over at any point. They have to fight for every $ they can get.

Love Dak-hate Dak...By the numbers he was a top 4 quarterback. And the only guy left standing was Mahomes. So, anybody under Mahomes sucked also.....12 games especially two years straight is hard to do. And again. Unless you're Mahomes. All the other 31 NFL teams and quarterbacks failed also. Get over it like the rest of the 31. And plan for next season is my advice.

Great advice, but GM Jeruh does not plan in advance.

He’s the one eating a huge chunk of the cap. Nothing lazy about the team being better served if they were able to actually fill holes and not nickel and dime everyone but a handful of players. He is the problem because he’s simply not good enough to overcome that glaring issue.

So this year again when Stephen is doing his due diligence through free agency we’ll all pretend we can’t figure out what the problem is. And the same thing when they fall short or a team like SF embarrasses them for the 4th time in 4 years. Hopefully the Giants and Commanders don’t improve or this team is really in trouble!

I wonder how many successful playoff teams had 9% of their cap in dead money and 6% on IR.

So basically 15% of your cap was not playing on the field. Plus we carried $10M over to 2024.

So we basically had $44M dollars, almost 20% of our cap not on the field in the playoffs.
