Steven Nelson looks like Scandrick to me. More the current Scandrick than Scandrick as a rookie. He's not tall and does not have good arm length, but he has really good footwork and quickness.

they mentioned he might be most competitive CB in this draft and that always gets my attention.

I'm going to start on my film review, as I did last year. I want to have this open for debate if you don't agree with my viewpoints, I would love to hear from you.

I want to review at least 2 or 3 games of each guy I review. I want to talk about how they would fit in with our team, position, strengths and weaknesses. I am NOT going to base my opinions or lean towards someone else's opinion. I want to have my own opinion on each of these guys, and they will be strong opinions.

If you have any recommendations for players you want me to review, I would LOVE to. I am going to start with defensive lineman first. Would love all your feedback.

Eddie Goldman (DT) Florida St 6'4 320

Positives: Really good swim move and effects QB a lot for guy his size.. Can move for his size. Outstanding in run game. Occupies multiple blockers almost every play, and still disruptive. Very powerful. Position flex, can play the 0 tech, 1 tech, or 3 tech.

Negatives: Quick in short spurts, very rarely will chase ball carrier down. Not consistently a pass rush threat. Needs to get his hands up more to get in QB's lanes of vision.

Comparison and Where He Fits on Our Team: Love this player! He can be a HUGE upgrade at 1 tech. Will get a few QB pressures every game, and be outstanding against the run. He's solid pass rusher for a 1 tech, but an outstanding player against run. Plus he will occupy multiple blockers opening up our 3 tech for 1 on 1's. He can really be a value for us. You might say I'm crazy, but I have him as 2nd best DT behind Leonard Williams. I like better then Shelton.

And out of curiosity, what Goldman games did you watch? When I watched him vs Louisville I came away very unimpressed. He flashed a few times, but I thought he got handled for the most part. His lack of impact in the run game was the most alarming.

Think it Louisville game and some other clips i could find as well. Obdighizuwa should be between Beasley and Harold. Loved him a lot! I thought I had him in there, must have gotten erased by accident weird.

Malcolm Brown (DT) Florida St 6'2 320

Positives: Battler with a relentless motor. Makes a lot of stops in the run game. Shows ability to move around on the line, both in 3 man and 4 man fronts. Does not job of disengaging blockers in run game to get his hands on ball carrier. Does a nice job in short yardage/goaline situations penetrating and making a play.

Negatives: Gets moved around a lot in the run game, totally taken out of plays. Does not play with a lot of explosiveness. Inconsistent pad level and lack of technique way too often. Very rarely will generate any kind of pressure. Has the size of a 1 tech, but plays more like a 3.

Comparison and Where He Fits on Our Team: 2nd round player for me. Not a great consistent player, but had some really good tape (UCLA) where he was very disruptive. Like, don't love. Not stout enough in the point of attack to be a 1 tech, but not enough of a pass rushing threat for me to be a 3 tech.

Jordan Phillips (DT) Florida St 6'6 330

Positives: Really impressive size and length. Does outstanding job using his length to disrupt QB's and block down balls. Still very young and he's only going to get better, only a redshirt sophomore. Really nice hand use. Impressive lower body power, rarely gets moved. Shows a nice spin move for interior rusher. Really nice job of splitting blockers. Shows a good initial burst.

Negatives: Needs to learn how to better use his body. Gets stuck on way too many blocks in both run game passing games. Not great movement skills laterally. Question his motor at times. Struggles against reach and cut blocks. Not the greatest of athlete. Inconsistent. Little of a flash player.

Comparison and Where He Fits on Our Team: 1 tech. Really big upside. I have him as a late 1st rounder. Huge upside, and Marinelli would be perfect one to maximize his potential. His size would be a huge plus for our defensive line. Like this kid a lot.

I'm a fan of Goldman as well, he's kind of a forgotten man but I would be ok with him late first, early second in a trade down scenerio.

Yeah I agree. I've never been a big Lawrence guy. I watched so many of his games over and over again at Boise State, and I just didn't see it. Even this year. The one positive is he's strong, and he is really violent with his long arms. I don't ever see as a 10+ sack type of guy, thats why I rather see him at LE. I think he has the power and point of attack to play that side well.

I did not get the trade up and us burning both our 2nd and 3rd rounders there. He'll be fine, but I think we missed an opportunity to do better with the two picks in aggregate.

Gabe Wright (DT) Auburn 6'3 300

Positives: Outstanding first step explosion. Knows how to use leverage to fire into lineman. Plays with plenty of upper body strength. Has ability to be a solid rotational pass rusher, especially in nickel situations.

Negatives: Gets stuck on way too many blocks. Doesn't show a lot of awareness in knowing where ball carrier is. Rotational player at Auburn, doesn't show a great motor to hold up for 50-60 snaps a game. Inconsistent. Needs to improve against the run.

Comparison and Where He Fits on Our Team: Would like to see him play at 285-290 as a 3 tech at next level. Got a little too big for combine at 300, lost some of his explosion which is the best aspect of his game. He's a slightly better version of Terrell McClain. Rotational player. I think he is a good player, not a starting 3 tech. If he falls to us in the 3rd, I would love that. No earlier.

Grady Jarrett (DT) Florida St 6'1 305

Positives: Built like a fridge, small and compact very difficult to move. Will give you a consistent push in middle. Once he gets his hands on you, ball carriers are done. Makes it very hard for runners to go up the middle. Nice initial quickness off snap. Muddies things up in middle.

Negatives: Undersized, height and length. Gives little in pass rush. Once engaged, he will not shed blockers. Wears down at end of games. Rarely makes a play.

Comparison and Where He Fits on Our Team: Best fit by far is a 1 tech. Not a huge fan for us. Mid round pick for me. 4th rounder. Will give us little in terms of a pass rusher which is what we need from our 1 tech, which we haven't gotten in long time.

Have you looked at David Johnson, RB Northern Iowa? I liked what I saw at the combine and his pass catching prowess, but it was just highlight reel stuff.

Boys should think about drafting RB Duke Johnson from the U in the later rounds.. I see him as a major sleeper

Xavier Cooper (DT) Washington St 6'3 293

Positives: Moves all over the place on the defensive line, position flex. Really good foot quickness, showed really well at combine. Equally good against rush and pass. Tends to be at the right place right time. Very active hands.
Negatives: Not great against read option type of offenses. Crashes inside way too much. Not overly powerful, nor does he possess a lot of ways to beat offensive lineman. Does not have great length.
Comparison and Where He Fits on Our Team: Think he can be an effective 3 tech with his movement skills, but it is hard to get a good read at that position because he moves around a lot and played more end in college. Doesn't do anything to WOW you, but good in a lot of areas. Solid all around football player that could be a 3rd round steal.

Ifo Ekpre-Olomu (CB) Oregon 5'9 180

Positives: Outstanding closing speed. Nice job of mirroring receivers and jumping routes. Willing tackler who will fight in run game. Very physical for a small corner. Plays very smart, excellent play recognition. Will cover a lot of ground.

Negatives: Will jump too many routes, and get fooled often by double moves. Gets over aggressive. More of a zone corner, gets beat a lot when playing press. Undersized. Coming off bad injury. No position flex, stays at RCB 90% of time while occasionally playing slot.

Comparison and Where He Fits on Our Team: Tends to play more off coverage then press man. Bend but not break corner. Will give up the short passes, but rarely get beat deep. Good player, who was really good his junior season. Looked like he got bigger his senior season at Oregon, didn't have same explosion. If Marinelli wants to play more zone, this guy could be a high risk high reward type player. I wouldn't draft any higher then 3rd round though. Big upside, has a lot of ability.
