Darius Jackson RB

I think Dunbar gets cut and this guy goes to the practice squad. Elliott, McFadden and Morris are the 3 keepers (on the 53).

Morris is guaranteed 1.8m.....none of McFadden's 1.75m is guaranteed...should be tie-breaker

Impressive from a measurables standpoint, but I don't think he supplants any of the guys we have now.

Now that I think about it, I'm thinking he replaces Dunbar as an RB with primarily receiver type duties. The dude is very fast.

The Cowboys selected Eastern Michigan running back Darius Jackson in the sixth round of the NFL draft on Saturday.

According to the school's website: The 6-foot-1, 221-pound running back made waves at his NFL Pro Day where he ran a 4.35 40-yard dash, jumped a 41-inch vertical, 133-inch broad jump and a 4.27-second 20-yard shuttle. The 41-inch vertical would tie for eighth-best among running backs at the Combine since 2006, while the 133-inch broad jump would tie for fifth-best over that span.

Jackson set the school’s single-season record with 16 touchdowns in 2015. Jackson finished the year with 1,089 yards on the ground. He also starred in baseball in high school.

According to Lance Zierlein's NFL draft profile, Jackson wasn't projected to get drafted. Wrote Zierlein:

STRENGTHS Showed off a rare combination of size, speed and explosiveness at his pro day. Can make variety of adjustments to secure poor throws. Has punt coverage background.

WEAKNESSES: Dancer with a lack of decisiveness as a runner. Vision is well below average.

BOTTOM LINE: The tape doesn’t come close to matching the astounding pro day numbers that Jackson posted, but his combination of size and athletic traits could very well get him drafted. Jackson doesn’t have the vision or decisiveness to be a zone runner and appears to lack the physicality needed as downhill gap-scheme back.

If he's in a one-cut system, he'll be fine. Besides, behind the holes are offensive line will make, he just have to run through the opening and run to daylight. That doesn't take too much vision.

He just needs to learn how to run lower, but I like the way he holds the ball. Could spell EE when Zeke needs to take a breather or too - whether he wants to or not.

What a reactionary pick to make up for last years draft. If we would have drafted Rawls in the first place we might not even have had to go 1st and 6th and on RB this year.

Yea, this guy has no future in the NFL. I mean, he looks like if you give him a wide gaping whole and a straight line he might just go house, because no one's catching him. Too bad the NFL doesn't work that way. This guy has no future in the NFL.

Elliott's pass catching ability and route running put Dunbar in trouble.

I was waiting for a RB who could play teams though. Since DMC only gives you a returner option. We don't like that third back to not play Teams.

Thought I read Jackson plays teams

If they don't replace Dunbar with Zeke in his role on their passing sets then I will be hugely disappointed.

Waste of a pick if you dont.

You pick a HB at 4 you take off the field for an breather, not because he is weak in certain situations.

Dont see that happening though. Murray kept every else on the sideline. Garrett seems to go with his horses if he has them. Almost to a fault

Can play with power. Open field cuts that are elusive. Long speed. Decent jump cut behind the line.

I hear his vision isn't great, he does run upright as heck and we'll have to see if this translates to the pros but I can see talent.

Kinda reminds me of Karlos Williams

This kid is legit. I'm a little pissed that I didn't know who he was. Bye bye Dmac and/or Morris!

Yes he does. Short yardage paper back.
