Just an idle thought here but what if Darrell Green, by some chance, didn't make the HOF on the first ballot? Would the entire RedSkinz nation be on suicide watch?

They would be up in ams, and rightfully so. He wasn't a fantastic INT guy(Walls had more in 6 lesss years) but Green was considered not only the fastest CB of his generation, but one of the best pure cover guys ever. I'd like to see the hall pass him by for a year just to see skins fans cry, but he's a 1st ballot HOF IMHO. Not many CBs you can say that about. Monk still ain't gettin in, nor should he, but the hall will give Green the nod.

Agree with the others. He is a first ballot guy and if he did not get in the Skins fans would have a right to be angry. Guy was a great player over a long period of time and always a class act.

I not only respected him as a player but also liked him as a player even if he was a skin. Of course I would root against him because he was a skin player but he was just the type of guy that it was hard to hate.

I agree BP. Green was one of the very few Skinz I can say I really respected and even liked. However, I'd still like to see Exteme disintegrate into pure unadulturated madness over something like that. Just for a year or so.

Does that make me bad person?

:D

They would go ballistic, but they would have the right to. What's the case against him?

There is no case. You guys are right though, my head would explode if he didnt get in next year. I, of course think Monk deserves it too.

I think that the timing is pretty good for Darrell, and I don't see him being snubbed - though, I thought the same thing about Monk, so who knows.

One thing he has going for him is his signature run - catching Dorsett from behind, on monday night football -- which was the argument in a nutshell against Monk "no signature catch".

I think Gibbs' Championship Commanders teams are underrepresented in the HOF, but I'm sure there are many other teams who have been snubbed as well.

Compared to the 70's Steelers all championship teams are underrepresented.

I'm starting to wonder if Monk slept with the (former) commissioner's wife or something.

He has to get in eventually. I don't think you can compare Green to Monk's snub. Monk only had three 1,000 yard seasons or something like that during his career; Green was a top CB his whole career (not that Monk wasn't, but you know what I mean). No one could ever say Green wasn't the best CB on his team, even when Deion came over in his later years.

How many guys played on all 3 Washington Superbowl winning teams? Maybe that is what keeps some guys out of the HOF. Art Monk was on all 3 teams. I still don't understand why he is not in the HOF. At the time he retired he was #2 all time in receptions just behind Jerry Rice. He is still #6. He was #5 all time in receiving yards when he retired and is now #11. I always thought he deserved to be in the HOF. I still think Irvin is better, but that should not take away from Monk.

Green is a no brainer. His signature play was as a punt returner. He had a great TD return in the playoffs against the Bears.

The "only" reason Green wouldn't be a first ballot guy is if he went up against 5 or more Emmitt, Rice types in a given year so like who is first time eligibles in 2008

And running down Herschel.

I don't remember him running down Herschel. At least not on any play similar to the Dorsett play where Herschel was running at top speed. I seem to remember a couple of times where he caught Herschel, but only after Herschel was zigging and zagging through the rest of the defense. Not that Walker was much of a zig zagger.

Darrell Green is the epitome of a player who belongs in the Hall of Fame .....

Even Cowboy fans should be pissed if he does not get in.
