Darrell Green 2008 HOF?

He'll get in 1st ballot for sure as long as the HOF commitee doesn't look at the tape when he lined up in front of Michael Irvin

That would be every corner who played against Mike in his prime.

He's got to make it on the first ballot. And yes, the Foreskins would rightfully be very snippy if he didn't make it.;)

There is no case. You guys are right though, my head would explode if he didnt get in next year. I, of course think Monk deserves it too.
No doubt Green belongs on the first ballot. As for Monk, I always felt that Gary Clark was the better receiver, so I'm not really convinced that Monk should be in.

I know this is a bit off topic, but who else is up for the hall in 2008? Are their any other sure fire type guys up for the first time?

Oh, and I also think Green should be a 1st ballot hall of famer no question. Monk should be in as well, although he doesn't deserve it nearly as much.

2008 Possible Nominees:

Darrell Green
Chris Carter
Rod Woodson

(and again):
Art Monk
Gary Zimmerman
Fred Dean
Richard Dent
Derrick Thomas

It's a disgrace to the Hall of Fame that Monk isn't in yet. :banghead: He retired as the NFL's all-time leader in receptions for a season and for a career. He played at a high level until he retired. Jerry Rice was gaining fast on Monk record-wise (and would eventually surpass them), but back then Rice was the only receiver you could compare Monk's stats to.

This pretty much sums it up:

Actually that blog is a joke. Monk the best WR in the history of the game when he retired? Don't make me laugh.

The only joke is people so stupid they can't appreciate a rival's player excelling. Monk had the most important records when he retired. Sorry you can't see that.:)

That isn't what he said though. He said that when Monk retired he was not the best WR in the History of the game. Records don't make you the best ever.

Sorry, but i find it rather amusing that you've just accused someone of being "so stupid he can't appreciate a rival players excelling" when he has clearly done just that with Green. You've insulted him, and in the process made yourself look worse than the insult you've labeled him with. People have differing opinions. Perhaps the "stupid people" are the ones that can't accept that.

...but feel free to post here more...your insight is truly a blessing on this board.

Going by the records, he was.

I see that, and appreciate it. Doesn't change him trying to nitpick an equally honorable player, why? Maybe it's not him or me that's the stupid one here. I find it amusing that neither of you addressed the article's points.

He wasn't nitpicking. He made a statement. Art Monk was not the best WR in the History of the NFL when he retired. That isn't nitpicking not did it deserve your insult as Tomson pointed out.

So Paul Krause is the greatest Safety ever to play in the NFL?

Don't know, but he's in the hall of fame isn't he?* So again, why isn't Monk? Thanks for the good example, and something to look up and learn.

He picked out one sentence and called the article a joke without addressing the rest. Yes, it is a nitpick.

Apparently you can't read. Okay, let me help.

He didn't say Art Monk isn't a Hall of Famer. He said he was NOT the greatest WR in the NFL when he retired.

You replied that he owned all the important records. Whoop-dee-freaking-doo.

Paul Krause owns the all time Interception record but he isn't even close to the best Safety to ever play the game. Just the record holder. You see there was this Safety named Ronnie Lott who was the best ever. He doesn't own the INT record, but records do not make anyone the best.

Within 3 or 4 years of being in the NFL it was obvious to anyone with eyes in their head that Jerry Rice was the greatest WR in the History of the game.

No charge for the education. There will be a test later.

No, it was the truth. Art Monk wasn't the greatest WR in the History of the NFL when he retired. He was dead on right about that.
