The problem is they let Lawrence Taylor in so nothing but stats should ever count....which I don't necessarily agree with...
It should be about stats because we have no idea what these players do in their off time such as who keeps what under wraps and out the media, plus the media will and can be bias if you disrespect them in any kind of way.

Woody has no shot at getting in. TO and JJ should get in, so should Morten Anderson.

if you think woody was overrated or doesnt believe he is hall of fame worthy, then you really dont know football.
Woody was a good Safety but I never considered Woody as a HOF, a great Cowboy yes but not a HOFer.

If Tony Dungy is in the HOF, Jimmy certainly deserves it.

That's exactly the reply I was going to make. There are PLENTY of coaches in the HOF who only won 1 Super Bowl. Jimmy won 2, and everybody knows Barry was pretty much just minding the store with the talent Jimmy assembled when they won the 3rd SB in '95.

George Allen made the Super Bowl just 1 time in his career, when the Commanders lost to the Dolphins in 1972. He certainly belongs in the Hall, and if he does, it's hard to see how someone can argue that Jimmy doesn't belong in there.

Do they deserve to go in? Yes. Will it happen this year? Nope.

Tony Dungy is in the Hall of Fame not just because he won a Super Bowl, but because of longevity in the NFL as a player and assistant/head coach, his Cover 2 defensive concept and because he is the first black coach to win a Super Bowl. As with all American history, the accomplishment of blacks in a society that largely discriminated against them and withheld opportunities from them is noteworthy. And the legacy and history of Dungy's presence and influence has left an indeliable mark on the NFL.
He's considered the Rosa Parks of the NFL, a quiet unassuming black man who made it more acceptable to consider the "cause" of the black coach because he was a nice guy first and a pioneer second.

Jerry should get in. Seriously. As an owner, not a GM. He pushed this league farther than anyone else could have imagined. He is a HUGE reason this league is so successful in all the ways it is.

Lots of great names on that list it will be a difficult decision just for the January cut. Glad I just get to read about it and remember all the fantastic memories those candidates have provided.

What hurts Jimmy is he only had 6 playoff teams compared to 11 playoff teams for Dungy. Jimmy had 9 playoff wins compared to 10 playoff wins for Dungy. Jimmy only had 3 good Cowboy teams but 2 of them were spectacular and won the SB. He'll never get credit for the 3rd SB win because he wasn't apart of it. He didn't have a lot of success in Miami but he did win a couple of playoff games in the 4 seasons he coached there.

Most of the head coaches in the HOF had longevity. Jimmy only coached 9 years compared to 13 years for Dungy. Guy Chamberlin had the shortest tenure of any coach in the HOF with 6 years. Jimmy would be tied with John Madden for the second shortest tenure at 9 years. Madden being in the HOF has more to do with his popularity in the booth with Pat Summerall than his coaching career.

TO should be first ballot, but the idiots voting want to hold it against him for speaking his mind
I understand speaking your mind is important but controlling what you say and who you say it to also is. Does he deserve to go in on his numbers, of course he does but he didn't help himself with every team/teammate he drug around the dirt after he left. Just sayin.

Hines Ward?:laugh:I guess running pick routes out of trips formations and smiling all the time is enough to get in the HOF now?

Jimmy built a dynasty in Dallas from the ground up. The Cowboys went from one of the top 10 worst teams ever in 1989 to one of the top 10 greatest teams ever in 1992. Dungy is a nice guy but looking at his coaching career I never saw him as a HOF head coach. Can't have him in the HOF and not Jimmy.

He has a 80 and 64 record. Irvin was already with the team, he didnt want Aikman, and settled for Emmitt because he couldnt get Seau. Without the triplets I dk he would've won the 2 SB's. He ran away from Cowboys and did nothing with Miami before he ran away from there.
He had no consistency.
Dungy had 10 seasons of at least 10 wins and I think would have won as much if not more than Jimmy with the triplets.

1. He coached Irvin at Miami.
2. The 'without the triplets' argument is the dumbest 1 ever. He had different draft strategies you say? Just this year we 'settled' for Dak Prescott in the 4th when we couldn't trade up to grab Paxton Lynch in the 2nd. I'm sure that will keep Jerry out of the HOF someday.
3. He did turn a 1-15 team into a multiple Super Bowl winner in record time. That wasn't luck or something that happened while he was standing on the sidelines picking his nose.

Dungy won one SB with Peyton and that's because he played the Chicago Bears who had no QB. Couldn't get over the hump in TB. He's a good coach but not better than Jimmy.
