David Irving Instagram Post

I get this anger but let's also be fair here and admit we got away with some stuff in that game too. There were two CLEAR holds on Packers WRs that went uncalled. One was a blatant hold.

I tend to think it's not that the league is out to get us. I think it's that officiating has just gotten crappier over the years and teams that have noteworthy players like a Brady or Rodgers tend to get some benefit of the doubt.

Also, I think Garrett hurts us here too. He's too soft on the sidelines. Someone posted a study a week or so ago that shows some correlation between getting calls and being a real %$# on the sideline towards officials.
Yah. That's nice and all.

How many penalties were called on GB?

Penalties happen.......... and the calls are SUPPOSED to be called fairly. Not one sided, dude.

Bad calls and missed calls happen all the time. The thing about this particular hold(s) is that it jumped out at you watching the play live. From a wide angle, even with the guy who had the ball rolling away from the line, this hold jumped off the screen at you. If random fan sitting on his couch can see this so obviously, how does the ref not see it there? The answer is, he did see it. Unless someone ripped Irving's helmet off, he wasn't going to flag it.

The grandstanding ref was eager to fabricate the penalty on Butler, but wasn't going to throw a flag on this play no matter what.

OTOH, maybe our DL isn't as bad as everyone laments. Maybe we just need a coach who's better at lobbying the refs.

The Referee was right in position to see the hold in real time, for sure. It was obvious, he missed it, we lost. But we lost for a lot of reasons. It's on us not to be in situations where bad calls get you beat.

I don't buy for a second he missed it. It was almost impossible to miss. It's just like with PI. Short of a mugging, most refs will not make the big call with the game on the line. The ref had already made up his mind he wasn't going to throw a flag.

That's correct, great teams don't leave themselves in that position, but it should be noted the Pack was in the exact same boat as us, where one bad call could doom their entire season.

We had 1 maybe 2 missed defensive holding penalties - GB benefits from an arcane and premeditated drive killer that wasn't close to be legitimate (3-7 points), Witten's mugging in the endzone (7 points) the PI that should have been DH on Brown (perhaps 3 points), the absolute tackle of Irving on a number of plays, most notably on the game winning drive (3 points, minimum).

I call BS on any assertion that the refs were equally bad and moreover that the Butler call wasn't pre-meditated, especially after the NFL got caught out privately informing other teams left in the playoffs that they needn't worry about such a penalty, then issued a quick "it was legitimate message"

Nothing wrong with observing inconsistent treatment, it doesn't make one a whiner, if the balance of bad missed calls were reversed against Green Bay, they wouldn't factored in either of the last two playoff contests against the Cowboys, much less won them.

The hold happened right as Rodgers was wheeling around to his left. The ref was standing right where he was supposed to be, but either he was looking at Rodgers, or Rodgers movement obscured the view somehow. Though to tell. The hold was obvious if you were looking at it. I genuinely don't think he was looking at it or it would have been called.

Either way, as we say, let's get better on defense and not be in these positions against the very best teams. We've made so much progress. A little more is not too much to expect or ask for.

Holding happens on every play. What I saw was our defense linemen unable to get off a block and not having the skill set/technique to break away from defenders holding them. Oh, there are ways you can prevent that. Maybe our defensive lineman are too scared to employ such methods or they haven't been taught the proper technique.

I don't believe in the conspiracy theories, but when you see a picture like that from a game where Green Bay wasn't called for a single hold, I think the Cowboys have a gripe.

Was their view obstructed the entire game?

Why are people here acting like those *****y Detroit fans after the 2014 game? It is very disappointing.

GB beat us. Plain and simple.

Because we have been on the short side of the officiating, 3 games in a row in the divisional round. 2 of those games as the 1 seed at home.

Not to mention the inconsistent random calls you see in every single game, every single week. Fans are tired of it.

How many times were the Cowboys called for holding? I remember once. Were there more?

The play in the Detroit game should/could have been offsetting, the Detroit player clearly grabbed the dallas recievers facemask...and often times on pass interference penalties, flags are picked...

I think at some point everyone is going to have to accept that the refs are going to miss obvious calls and make obviously bad calls. Its part of the game.

Maybe someone needs to tell Irving that you can hold inside the numbers and the shoulders. Maybe someone needs to teach him to develop moves to break such holds.
What about the hand coming over his back onto his left shoulder though?
