David Irving Instagram Post

The hold happened right as Rodgers was wheeling around to his left. The ref was standing right where he was supposed to be, but either he was looking at Rodgers, or Rodgers movement obscured the view somehow. Though to tell. The hold was obvious if you were looking at it. I genuinely don't think he was looking at it or it would have been called.

Either way, as we say, let's get better on defense and not be in these positions against the very best teams. We've made so much progress. A little more is not too much to expect or ask for.

So, according to some, we're supposed to be some sort of super human team that can overcome officiating which directly takes points off the board on multiple occasions?

In a "game of inches", while that mindset is really fun to think about, in a playoff game with that many penalties going against you, you're not going to win many, if any at all.

And the Scandrick hold on Adams, can someone please post a view of the endzone? I'm about 90% sure there was another obvious hold, which is why i assumed they let that one go.

I don't believe the NFL, the officials or anyone else conspires to make sure calls go against the Cowboys, but when defensive linemen are getting held on almost every play and Green Bay doesn't get called for it once, I think it's fair to say the officiating sucks.

What makes it worse is that with only 3 people rushing, it should be easy to spot. It's not like we were blitzing 7 and there was chaos in the pocket. Where was the ref looking to not see 1 of 3 defenders being held by 2 of 5 blockers???
Obviously, like every red-blooded person in the universe (especially Risen ;)), the ref couldn't help but stare in slack-jawed awe at the godliness that is The Aaron Rogers.

Every fan base complains about calls. Every fan base can show you pictures that freeze a play in time and prove there's a penalty. However, what the picture doesn't show is when the release occurred - whether immediate or delayed. It also doesn't show what the ref is looking at, where he is, his angle etc.
Yes, there are bad calls in every game, including this game. But they don't happen because the refs are conspiring against a team.

Haha, I do. Didnt used to, but yeah.

One day I asked myself, what obligation do they have to be fair? Why would they be? When there's no oversight, people tend to do whatever they want.

This isn't the Supreme Court of the United States, they aren't swearing on the bible. They're the NFL, a bunch of rich dudes.

Watching the play at full speed, it doesn't look like a hold, or one that I would bang the table looking for a flag.

Yeah, seeing it live it looked like he had held the position of what would be considered a hold for only a split second, then Irving gets knocked down by the other player coming over to help. IT was so quick, I don't have a big issue with that being a non-call in that situation. That's not to exempt the officials from the way they called the game in general, which was awful. It was just a horribly officiated game. The call against Butler was much worse than the non-call against Irving for a myriad of reasons IMO.

The officiating in the NFL is less than sub-par week in and week out. There is no reason that a league that basically prints its own money can't fix that.

Well, we know of 2 bad calls that took 7-14 points off the board for Dallas. Another that led to 3 points and a win for GB.

Would you mind pointing out similar calls that went against GB? I'll wait.

We kind of have to be, don't we? What other reasonable option is there, other than to just give up on watching the games if you think the bias is overwhelming the outcomes.

I hate the blame officiating stuff, even when there is an obvious bad call like there was in the 2014 game. At the same time, I do agree the league has a big officiating problem, and I do agree that there are certain teams, Green Bay and Pittsburgh most notably, that really do seem to get the benefit of some outrageous doubt. Not just when they play Dallas, either. I'm not sure why it is, but it doesn't really matter. In this one way, we need to be more like NE, who just takes the hits and finds better-different-smarter-other ways to work around and stay competitive. I'm sick of losing close games and then hearing it's about a holding penalty or a (stupid) unsportsmanlike conduct call. Just win anyway, or don't and we can become like Lions fans.

I don't only want the Packers to lose Sunday, I hope they lose on a very contoversial penalty call.

I think they get crushed by 3 TDS....Atlanta is gonna steam roll them. Birds are reminding me of that 97 Denver Broncos team w/ Terrell Davis. They are just getting that Shanahan look....Plus GBs dbs can't matchup w/ Julio. It's a total mismatch. Only chance GB has is if they get into a track meet...and they happen to get the last possesion in a close game.

The Packer are now channeling their inter Cheating Pats.
Let's push it until it gets called.

I don't know, I only went back and looked at that play because I was curious.

I'm not trying to be a jerk. It just chaps my *** a little bit when officials are missing blatant infractions like the one pictured in the OP but making obscure calls like the unsportsmanlike BS Butler was flagged for.

Why are people here acting like those *****y Detroit fans after the 2014 game? It is very disappointing.

GB beat us. Plain and simple.
Oh c'mon. So we have no right to complain over end-of-game deciding non-calls? Guess I'm a ****** Lions fan. Oh well. We got hosed and have multiple pictures and replays of various plays to prove it. Only 2 holding calls on GB vs the Cowboys in two different Divisional games. Hmmm.

Until refs are full-time employees with training and accountability, things will always be a bit ugly. We HAVE to be good enough to overcome a bad call. I'm not spending the next 8 months lamenting these calls. Our defense just has to stiffen up. We have to make better time-management decisions. I get why people are so upset. We are SO close to getting there that a misstep by the officials isn't something we can overcome. I want a defense that has to be accounted for like our offense does. If we don't get closer to being a complete team, it'll just take luck.

We've been a pretty good "bend-but-don't-break" defense. But that isn't what I want. I want a defense that gives people like Rodgers nightmares. I want someone coming off the edge that makes QB's think twice about rolling out of the pocket. I want a CB that thinks the ball belongs to them every time it's thrown.

When our defense comes together all the bad calls will just fade into the background...where they belong.
