Red Bryant, **** somebody. And a workhorse in the backfield like Camille, and Matt cassell. People forget he had a couple really good seasons with New England and mc, and I think the line and some of thuuporting cast here can really help him. Then romac and Harry and Gregory come back and out line is Gregory, Lawrence, Crawford and hardy, with lee hitchens and romac, and a slew of good corners......we may pull this out.

And replace nick Hayden with anyone, ANYONE. He produces nothing

Hayden batted two balls down in a row.

Maybe Coleman watched too many RBs run past without tackling one. (Guess the staff just can't take a joke.)

I don't quite understand. Coleman to me has shown significantly more flash than Russell. I mean what has Russell done exactly to impress ANYONE? why not keep Coleman and cut Russell then sign him to PS? We are talking about resigning Edwards who's on the street right now but has shown more ability CURRENTLY.

There must be something more. Either Coleman has pissed off some coaches played completely out of control and abandon his gap/lane.

Russell is a rookie who was playing in his first game and showed he has a lot to learn. Coleman has been in the system for more than a year and still isn't playing his assignments from down to down. Dallas has went back and forth with him because he obviously has ability but that ability does the team no good if he won't do what's asked of him.

It's disappointing that Hayden is the better player than Coleman simply because Coleman lacks consistency. I think if this had just been a matter of cutting a player to open a roster spot, someone else would have been dropped. Coleman played his way off the 53-man roster Sunday.

This run stopping DT issue should have been addressed in the off season - and counting on an oft injured T.McClain is obviously a mistake.

How come I didn't hear anyone call out Coleman during or after the game? Not even the guys like Broaddus or Eatman specifically named Coleman by name as being horrible Sunday. Maybe we'll hear more about what really went into this decision to release him today.

Seems to me that most of Coleman's issues has been a lack of effort and motor. Didn't Hardy get on him about that? Maybe they feel he was loafing or taking plays off on Sunday. Whatever it was, that is the fastest I have seen a player get cut after a game since Jimmy was here.

So either this was a brilliant Jimmesque move or we have locker room issues already?

I think the coaching staff had a short leash on Coleman to begin with. IIRC there were articles about the staff being worried about Coleman slacking if he made the 53 man roster etc...
He may have potential to be a solid NFL DT, but I don't think the staff think he is worth any headaches he may cause.

I think most of us are reading too much into his release. He was a fringe player who could easily be replaced and it looks like the Cowboys are attempting to do that with a yet, unknown player. We'll know today when that player comes in for a physical.

I disagree. The typical move is to release a player who you have another one in hand ready to sign.

That is not what's happened here. They released Coleman without a corresponding and immediate signing.

That says we want Coleman hone more than we want someone else replacing him.

I think there's more to this than your run-of-the mill roster move.

We'll see. If they do not bring someone in today, you are probably right.

Either way it's not a big deal considering Coleman's original precarious roster status.

We don't value the 1 tech so what's the big deal anyway? I value all the Dline, but apparently Marinelli doesn't.

I don't know. All I know is our run defense was atrocious. A lot of the times it's difficult to assign fault on the interior for that because we don't know what the call was. Did the linebacker get blocked because the DT went to the wrong side of the guard or center? Did the gap open that the DT was supposed to fill? Did the DT try to shoot the gap when his role on that play was simply to hold up blockers?

We had some definite issues inside and I can't say I've studied if they are Coleman's fault, but based on Dallas cutting him, I'd say that's a pretty good indication that Marinelli wasn't happy with how he played ... and Marinelli's happiness seems to depend on two things: effort and playing your assignments.

Cutting him before we even add a replacement tells me that Dallas had to be pretty unhappy with his play.

I don't think this is accurate. The 1-tech is not an important position talentwise in this defense. You don't have to have a great player to man it. However, you have to have a player who will play his assignment or it affects the positions that are more important in the success of the defense.

This is why Nick Hayden keeps coming back no matter how much fans wish him gone.

I'm more worried we only have 2 true DTs now. Russell and Crawford are tweeners and may get pushed around given extended PT.

Any former Bears available?

Jack Crawford is much better as a backup three tech.
