***Day Three Draft Thread***

Lawyer Milloy played 2 seasons for Seattle at the end of his career. Yet they have him announcing picks for him.

It truly is Silly Season

I understand this is a discussion board and there will be differences of opinion, but from my point of view, the entire draft would be much more enjoyable if guys who think they have enough knowledge to judge college players, their fit with the team, the value of the selection, and what every other gm in the league was thinking would simply share their vast knowledge as an opinion rather than ruining the fan atmosphere by attacking every selection, the front office, and the team.

If you're waiting for any team to draft the players you read about and want all day, then you should save yourself and the rest of us a lot of misery by cutting the grass. Yes, there's a difference between sharing an opinion on players you wanted vs attacking every selection as stupid, a waste, and a bust. Maybe we need two threads during the draft, one for those of us who want to share the excitement of the draft and discuss it with other fans, and one similar to the rant zone.

If Dak sucks, we lose a late 4th rounder. If Wentz or Goff sucks and we traded up to get them, we lose possibly next year's 1st and several later picks.
If Lynch sucks, we lost a 2nd and 3rd.

If we're terrible next year, we could possibly grab another qb at the top of the draft.

Nice to get some perspective. I'm not enamored with this QB class.

I think Cash could be an asset. At least on early downs and short yardage plays.

Cash does have some value - he's dropping because he couldn't complete a full workout before the draft, and there are concerns about his ability to play single high safety.

I'm more disappointed Deandre Washington got taken soon after the Dak thing.

Very good use of a 4th round comp pick, which is really an early to mid 5th when you add up the comp picks.
Kind of like a free pick if you want to look at it that way.
The way I also look at it. Was there any player there they could have taken, and truly helped us right away. Other than depth and ST's. I doubt anyone would have came in and start with this pick.
At least Prescott offers a solid backup possibility and eventual starter. It only a backup type / spot starter. We can always draft another QB next year, or 2 years.

Well worth the pick at this point. He can help more right away than a St type hoping to working into a starter.

Prescott won't play in '16 BUT could see him out there for a trick play or two... The guy does have some running ability.

I don't have a problem with drafting a project QB with a 4th comp pick. The problem is when Jerry said getting a backup for Tony was a top priority this off-season, I didn't think he meant we would be getting a guy who probably won't be ready to play this year, and going with the guy who lost the last three games as our backup.

Prescott had a string of 288 passes without a pick.

He was the MVP of the Senior Bowl.

He had success in a tough conference.

He had success despite a miserable offensive line in front of him.

He has some accuracy issues that if they can be ironed out can be a starter.

Ourlads had him as a possible 2nd rounder.

well said! that's offense line was horrible

Safe QB pick in the 4th with tremendous upside. Love it immensely. Our brass is kicking *** this year in the draft.

Jerry tried to get our backup in Lynch with the 2nd, but we were outbid. This QB class wasn't seen as a great one, so I'd much rather have taken a risk on someone like Dak or even Cardale with our late 4th and have our 1st next year if we see a better option.

We can even take Treyvonne Boykin in the 6th or if he goes undrafted and make him compete with Dak. This still leaves us with options if we see something we like better next year. Taking Goff and Wentz and giving up a fortune in the process doesn't give us that freedom. You HAVE to play them and hope they turn out because you've given up so much for them.

Here's the last ten years worth of 4th round picks for us. Outside of Doug Free, none of these guys have really panned out so not sure why people are in such a funk.

2015 - Damien Wilson
2014 - Anthony Hitchens
2013 - BW Webb
2012 - Kyle Wilbur, Matt Johnson
2011 - David Arkin
2010 - Akwasi Owusu-Ansah
2009 - Stephen McGee, Victor Butler, Brandon Williams
2008 - Tashard Choice
2007 - Isaiah Stanback, Doug Free
2006 - Skyler Green

Wilbur is good value. hitchens can play every LB position. Damien Wilson you will see alot of this year.

Jordan Howard will be a nice complement to Jeremy Langford in Chicago. Good selection.

Are people allowed to have opinions about players that don't involve waving pom poms when they are selected?

Never said anyone can't voice their opinion. But man, what were people expecting here at basically the beginning of the 5th round knowing that we were still looking for a quarterback. I'm not looking for anyone great so I don't prepare for some great disappointment especially on day 3.
