***Day Three Draft Thread***

Didn't call anything but got Dak right and Jerry enamored with him

Here's the last ten years worth of 4th round picks for us. Outside of Doug Free, none of these guys have really panned out so not sure why people are in such a funk.

2015 - Damien Wilson
2014 - Anthony Hitchens
2013 - BW Webb
2012 - Kyle Wilbur, Matt Johnson
2011 - David Arkin
2010 - Akwasi Owusu-Ansah
2009 - Stephen McGee, Victor Butler, Brandon Williams
2008 - Tashard Choice
2007 - Isaiah Stanback, Doug Free
2006 - Skyler Green

Hitchens has been a servicable starter and very good backup throughout his career (having a backup that can play all 3 positions is really nice)... I would call that panning out considering he's only in his 2nd year. Choice also had some good times here... but yea never really worked out. Wilson is incomplete but I think he could be another Hitchens in the future

Safe QB pick in the 4th with tremendous upside. Love it immensely. Our brass is kicking *** this year in the draft.

yeah, it is the upside with this guy that makes this great at late 4th rd pick rather than just good. Nice thing is we do have Romo for a few years so he has a little time to grow and learn under him.

I feel a little better with the draft with the two picks so far today. We added a player that some had a second round grade on to fill a need at DE and we also adding a QB that our coaching staff obviously has been very interested in at a good spot.

Last night I was a little distraught but we have added the best running back in the draft, two quality defensive linemen to add to the rotation, a QB prospect and essentially a first round talent for 2017. It's not too shabby with what...4 picks left to go?

Player comps so far....

Ezekiel Elliott - Emmitt Smith
Jaylon Smith - Lawrence Taylor
Maliek Collins - John Randle
Charles Tapper - Bruce Smith
Derp Prescott - Fran Tarkenton

can we PLEASE select a TRUE return guy in round 6 please

I think Lucky is your guy, I don't really understand why some don't feel good about him as a returner. He has tremendous quickness and did some good things once the coaching staff finally trusted him to be a returner.

Utterly ridiculous that Alex Collins with three 1,000 yd. seasons in the SEC and Jonathan Williams are both still available after 10 rb's taken.

When 2-4 round picks don't pan out for a franchise over an almost 10 year period something is wrong with the 'process'

Not a bad Day Three so far. Prescott will be a solid backup. Allen would've been my guy. Tapper is an instant contributor on this dline imo. Solid rotational piece. Glad we're getting back on track after a mystifying day 2.

Choice was solid

One thing that seems to stand out for the Cowboys' draft this year is they were very reactive. (Assuming the various reports are true), teams kept drafting the guys Dallas targeted just before they selected. I don't know if it is just a case of bad luck, poor strategy, or that's just how the cookie crumbles, but it seems to me that Dallas has picked plan "B" & "C" most of the draft ... going all the way to round 1 before the Rams & Eagles traded up for QB's. This isn't a knock on the player themselves, just an observation from what the reports were.

Prescott won't play in '16 BUT could see him out there for a trick play or two... The guy does have some running ability.

Did we pick any players in this draft that will play this year? Maybe we thought this was the 2017 draft?
