DB woes

The amount of doom and gloom after the first and most meaningless preseason game is both mind boggling and laughable. Some of you need to find a new hobby.

You have no idea if this team will win the superbowl this year. You base how our defense will play from watching the hall of fame game with basically no starters playing.........

I didn't even watch the game last night. My opinion has nothing to do with the game last night. Our defense is not any good. It does not take a genius to figure that out. I don't get while get so defensive. Im not bashing them. I love the Cowboys. But after reading posts how this team is going to cruise thru the NFC it gets crazy after a while. This defense is NOWHERE near good enough to win a championship.

I see Lawrence, Collins, Tapper and Jaylon getting after the QB this year. That along with Marinellis schemes to use his talent will make us better than most people think.

This is why I can't share everyone enthusiasm about this season. Some people here are talking Super Bowl. This team is NOT winning anything this year. Our defense right now is nowhere near good enough. Sure, maybe all the young DB we drafted will get better down the road but this year it's going to be ugly for our Def. I know everyone wants to be excited and such, but I have a feeling we are all in for a major letdown. I don't think this team wins 8 games. I have plenty of hope for the future of this team and the direction they want to go but it's going to take some time. Hope Im wrong about this year , but I just think this defense will be worse than last year.

My advice to you is, drink large quantities of alcohol!

Do you think our defense is any good? We are untitled to our opinions. That's why we have these forums. I hope im wrong. I want this team to win, but I just can't sit here and say this team is a lock to get to the Superbowl with our defense. That's all.

Without a noticeable improvement in the pass rush, this defense is going to get torched the first half of the season. The offense will need to put up 35+ a game to win early on.

A pass rush will help immensely. Hopefully, a healthy Tapper and Lawrence will provide some of that. The Irving suspension hurt badly.

Run the ball keep the other teams offense at limited snaps and there should be similar results to last year but with better talent improving week to week the def "should" be formidable by years end.

Lawrence is not a pass rushing demon. been here for a few years already. And he will have it tougher on the right side. Collins may be good for his position, but I wouldnt expect a tackle to have too many sacks. Both Smith and Tapper havent played one down in the NFL in a real game so to expect these guys to save our pass rush is not realistic.

I get the concerns about having to rebuild the defensive backfield. The over reactions about our DB and safeties getting burnt in the first half is a bit amusing. One has to really look at the main issue, no DB can hold a receiver for too long when we were not generating any type of pressure. Our DLine just couldn't collapse their 2nd, third and 4th stringer offensive linemans at all, making Gabbert a journeyman look like the second coming of Rogers out there with lots of time to set his feet and find an open WR. We really realistically won't see what our real D would look like until the second to the last pre-season game is played.

I have a good friend who is a 49ers fan. He called me from work during the game and asked how the team was doing. I told him Joe Montana reincarnated himself and he's torching the defense. He asked me who I was talking about and I told him Gabbert. He laughed for about five seconds and hung up.

My friend left work and went home a few hours later, watched some of the game on his DVR, called, woke me, and apologized. He was very sincere too.

Lol ha. That's always great advice. Ha. I love this team and I'll root everyday like o have for the past 44 years. Ugh I knew this was going to turn into this. Lol. It's all good. O didn't say anything crazy. I think I said what most of the league pretty much knows.

My point is...if you are waiting for Marinelli to "scheme" it up....you are going to be waiting a LONG time. This situation is what it is. We can only HOPE....for timely stops. But our offense is the best defense for THIS team.
