Seriously............you dont have to be Nostradamus to figure it out. The offense holdinig the ball and establishing leads is best friend this defense has. I like their ability to hold up against the run, but the pass will be brutal to watch.

Every year conclusions get drawn as soon as the 1st preseason game is played. I would venture a guess, that last year was pretty bad, although I dont remember exactly.

And again I said THIS YEAR. I never said o didn't like what we did draft wise as far as our DB go, but we didn't draft Deion Sanders. It takes time for the kids to get better. My point was for this year. Our defense is not good enough this year. That was my only point. It does not help we have no pass rush either. We didn't draft Lawernece Taylor. We drafted guys that if they are going to successfull in this league will take some time. So my point is our defense this year in my opinion is not any good and def not good enough to win a super bowl. That's all I said. A few years from now yes I think some of these guys we drafted will be effective. Not all,. But some and we will get better. I was only talking about this year

Do you think our defense is any good? We are untitled to our opinions. That's why we have these forums. I hope im wrong. I want this team to win, but I just can't sit here and say this team is a lock to get to the Superbowl with our defense. That's all.

Nobody is a lock.

Here are my reasons why this defense has a chance to be close to top 10 then terrible like you think.

Secondary is almost completely changed. Jones being the only true starter from last season. We added Woods and Blanton to safety, with Frazier and Heath that's good depth and competition.

Scandrick wasn't 100 percent, now he is and looks great. We added a veteran corner in Carroll while not a superstar he plays zone decent......which we are playing more of this season (zone that is) add in another year for Brown plus rookies Awuzie, Lewis and White. All have tons of potential and have been keeping up with Dez and guys like Butler.

Now most don't think Jaylon will play word is he will get action next week. Adding that talent with Lee will be huge. Not to mention Hitchens has looked really good too, seems to be improving.

On the DL we added Moore, Taco, Tapper and Paea. Another year for Collins, Thornton and Mayowa and things get interesting. That's not even including Irving, Crawford and D Law.

So now you can make up whatever it is you want but to say this is the same defense as last year is silly. These guys are going sure and most likely will make mistakes but I bet you they will be better then last year and will be top 10 or higher this season

I dislike 28 NFL franchises but despise three: Washington, Steelers and 49ers--in that order. The friend I spoke of earlier was my best man at my wedding. My one and only beloved sister married a Washington fan. Both are good men with good souls. I cannot stand their favorite teams though. It makes our football conversations very interesting to say the least.

However, I think I will stroke out if a Steelers fan ever enters the mix.

Lets hear the indisputable facts you are basing your assumptions on. Remember how well Atlanta young defense did last year when everyone thought they would suck. The facts are no one knows right now I'm thinking.

I get the concerns about having to rebuild the defensive backfield. The over reactions about our DB and safeties getting burnt in the first half is a bit amusing. One has to really look at the main issue, no DB can hold a receiver for too long when we were not generating any type of pressure. Our DLine just couldn't collapse their 2nd, third and 4th stringer offensive linemans at all, making Gabbert a journeyman look like the second coming of Rogers out there with lots of time to set his feet and find an open WR. We really realistically won't see what our real D would look like until the second to the last pre-season game is played.

I am amused that you are amused about overreactions after the first pre-season game, because your post seems to be an overreaction after the first pres-season game.

You have no idea if this team will win the superbowl this year. You base how our defense will play from watching the hall of fame game with basically no starters playing.........

Have you watched this defense in the last year's? Where is the pass rush coming from? Tell me.

We drafted rookie DB none of which are superstars and will have immediate impact game changing ability. It takes time to play DB in this league if your not a bona fide superstar. Again im taking about this season only. I just don't get how someone saying our defense is not any good such a shock to you.

REALLY? As in answer the question. What information are you basing this on? Last years team? Draft projections? Camp reports? Gut feeling? Are you a coach on some level? Scout? I'm just asking. You're making a bold definitive declaration at an extremely early phase. We are relying on rookies to contribute.. we could have drafted all busts or the next Derrell Revis. And how many had the "facts" the Cowboys season was over with last year after Romo was knocked out in the preseason?
