Scapegoat T.O. wishes Tony Romo well

12:38 PM Thu, Jun 25, 2009
Tim MacMahon/Blogger

T.O. says he still isn't exactly sure why the Cowboys released him, although he has his theories and is sticking with them.

He's heard about Stephen Jones' suggestion that Tony Romo wouldn't be able to emerge as a leader with T.O. on the roster.

"He was the quarterback of the team," T.O. said during his camp for kids today at Duncanville High School. "I think everybody realized that. It was upon him to adopt that leadership role and carry that out. Obviously, they saw that didn't happen.

"So, for whatever reason, I'll be the scapegoat. I'm not here. Now, it's his team. You know, and I wish him well."

T.O., who famously cried while defending Romo after the top-seeded Cowboys' playoff loss to the Giants two years ago, claimed to be confused when asked how the relationship between the quarterback and receiver changed last season.

"Your guess is as good as mine," T.O. said. "I don't know what happened. Obviously, somebody is lying somewhere. I don't know what happened. All I know is that I'm not here. I'm with the Buffalo Bills, and I'll leave it at that."

Much more T.O. coverage to come.

too much playing with the media and not enough playing on the field. if TO played half as hard on the field as he does with the media, we would've won the Super Bowl the last 2 years.

 I wish Romo all the best but he's definitely gonna have problems this year without TO....and if RW goes down with an injury, we'll see how everyone's boy wonder turns into a mental midget....

you don't wish him the best, so don't lie about it.

you want him to fail so "everyone's boy wonder" will look like a "mental midget" and you can look like you know football and have an insight 95 percent of us lack.

and when he doesn't crash and burn you don't post enough for anyone to even remember your name so you are completely safe behind your little wall of ignorance.

so you just ignore all the amazing stuff he does, and focus on the negative as though it's all that there is and spout off, hoping that the QB of the cowboys fails so you can rub it in peoples' faces?

you sound like a peach of a fan to me.

If you count amazing as being able to put up stats with great players around him while managing to be a turnover machine and choke when the pressure counts then ya I am with you on the fact that he is so amazing.

Everyone seems to see him succeed and can say "see, i told you how great he was." Those are the real peaches of fans who can't see past their own bias opinion confusing what they want with what will probably happen. I want a winner at qb so the team will win a Super Bowl, which I don't think will happen with this bum.

I'm sure he'll go below the 1,000 yard mark in Buffalo because he was already in decline here. Then he'll probably jump to another team and produce even less. Then he'll retire a big troublemaker/crybaby who better not go into the HOF as a Cowboy.
If Buffalo is his last team, I can see him signing a 1 day deal with the Cowboys and going into the HOF as one. Jerry likes him too much.

Actually, the title of the comical Tim Macmahon's article is pretty amusing.

Regardless of whether he signs the one day contract before he officially retires, Owens will enter the Hall of Fame as a Cowboy, Eagle AND 49er. Even though his highest career achievement was playing in the Super Bowl, his stay in Philadelphia was brief and will probably not overrule his primary induction into the Hall as a 49er:

Is a New Hall of Fame Member Enshrined as a Member of a Team?

Obviously, teams take great pride in the accomplishments of individuals who have been a part of their organization. Often individual teams and even the Hall of Fame will list enshrinees according to the team or teams on which they spent a significant period of time. An enshrinee, however, is not asked to “declare,” nor does the Hall of Fame “choose” a team under which a new member is enshrined. When elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, an individual is recognized for his accomplishments as a player, coach, or contributor.

I dont know what to think....

Its a damn circus....

We all know TO has a big mouth.....he is a media moth and cant keep his mouth shut.

But TO wasnt brought here to be a leader...I firmly believe thats the QB's job.

I think we can all agree that Romo needs to be a better leader......and its safe to say we need better leaders on this team.....with TO or without.

This team will succeed with better leadership...and better play....our OL must improve...our QB must make better decisions and our defense needs to come up big when needed.

If this team falters again.....the mediots will find another whipping boy.....Wade, Jerry, Romo.....R.Williams.....etc.....

Its going to be interesting year.......its SB or bust for me.....because winning a lousy playoff game means nothing to me....the year will still be a disappointment.

Does anyone really care what this attention ***** has to say? I didn't even read it because I don't give a damn what he thinks. He's gone now and the sooner he just goes away altogether the better.

No kidding. He doesn't play for Dallas anymore, thankfully. Can we please move on?

I'm sending another e-mail to this non-creative idiot.

T.O.'s name will not leave CowboysZone until Dallas has a good December and win playoff games.

The next big T.O. debate will happen after a Dallas loss.

False. Terrell Owens will remain a conversation piece within the Cowboys community regardless of Dallas' future successes or failures. The only question will be to what degree.

I will try not to laugh too hard at you when you pull a 180 and say you thought all along romo was a joke instead of fessing up that you were wrong. I won't hold it against you because you don't know any better, but I will still have to remind you that you were wrong.

No, I'm wrong all the time and I don't mind admitting it.

I bet you can't say the same.

BTW, I never predicted greatness for Romo in the first place, so I'd have nothing to crow about even if he did turn out to be a superstar.

Everyone seems to see him succeed and can say "see, i told you how great he was."
No, everyone wants to see him succeed because it's good for the team.

This isn't that hard.
