It's a weak draft at the top this year.

Myles Jack? Joey Bosa?

We're better off insuring that if our QB goes down we have someone competent behind him that can make plays.

Had we done that this year we probably go to the playoffs and Joey Bosa doesn't change that.

At least Jack, Bosa, or the best CB, WR could help the team win this year. Romo's window is shutting
with each year that passes. There will be decent QB's available in the early 2nd or 3rd round that the
scouts might think can play if developed. The risk is high with any QB chosen so I would get BPA
not QB and try and get to the show. I think that's what the Cowboy's FO thinks too!

What about all of the big D1 college QB's that he was clearly better than all week at the Senior Bowl?

Well, he might be the real thing.
But all things being equal, mate, I would pick Goff who faced big-time defenses over one who faced defenses made up of lower-tier talent in the blackhills and prairies of the upper Midwest.
Cheers!

IMO you do take the risk because he is such an elite physical talent and will not need to play for at least 2 years.

Yes, indeedy, my favorite Yank. We are a team that takes risks, aren't we? Go for it, burn a 1st-round pick on a QB with lots of hype and big numbers against the midgets of college sports!

I think you should draft the more talented player and not the guy who played against more talented players.

Physical talent.

I dont care how talented the people he played against are. They will never play for this team.

Goff has nothing on Wentz's ability.

It's a tired argument...... We are not winning a SB unless the D gets upgraded

I willing to state.... Quite FACTLY that even with a healthy #9 #88 we AREN'T playing this weekend with our D that was fielded this year

Your 12-4 D lost in the divisional to a one legged QB..... With a #9 playing his best ever & a healthy running game with #88

If Demarco doesn't fumble we win anyway. For sure. If Dez's catch stood we might've still won. This years d was better.

So you're telling me it has to be either one or the other and can't be a combination of both? Is this a rule you insist on just to be contrary? A little slack might be appreciated here. Let's not split hairs. Thanks.

My original post was to suggest that going for the BPA in an area of need beats going strictly for an area of need and settling for an inferior athlete. Too bad if it's too obvious to suit you.

I get what you're saying. I was wrong. You can have BPA at a need. You just treat your needs equally and choose BPA rather than taking the #1 need when your #2 need is a better player. My bad. I guess the only thing is deciding how many needs to include. Only critical needs or all needs? Because most teams can use an upgrade at almost all positions.

I tend to think likewise. All needs should be strongly considered, especially if a lesser need happens to include a notably superior talent. Let's hope our guys in the war room are well prepared.

I would love Alshon. That way we always have a receiver on the field that can win their 1 on 1 with someone stuck to them like glue because Garrett isn't getting anyone open.

I love both those receivers but I think they will be expensive. A big maybe. I think we get people open besides Dez although I think they could do a better job. I'd love to see more rubs and stacks. We scored 29.2PPG in 2014 with this group and Tony. I like a couple of the other guys. We'll see more WRs in camp.

Better players should be higher up your board....allegedly.

We also would not be picking fourth if we had a competent reserve with talent behind Romo. We also would not be picking fourth if we had a dependable RB capable of imposing his will. We also would not be picking fourth if there was a WR on this roster not named Bryant who was capable and talented enough to get consistent separation against even single coverage.

So we're in agreement. We need things. We need the best available thing at number 4.

Alshon Jeffery is in the same boat as Dez was last year (albeit Dez is a better player). He is unavailable.

I can't like this post enough. But most of them have already made up their minds, fingers in their ears saying "Lalalalalala draft a QB lalalalalala"

Get one of those 3 QBs and build the defense via free agency & the rest of the draft. If you think Romo is the answer now, you don't need rookies that will take several years to develop, you need free agents who are already developed. Get your QB, let him learn. Garrett, as much as I hate him, he somehow developed Romo from a small school, so this new QB can sit, learn, and be developed. If we don't get a QB, tell me when is the time, and how do you know THEN, that what ever QB you get is going to be the one? And how much longer do you put this franchise on hold waiting for the new franchise QB. Sometimes it takes a while to find one, why keep putting it off?

Romo could definitely go down next season, he has plates and bolts and duct tape holding him together, and if that happens, then what? You think RG3, or Drunky football is going to take us somewhere?

If this front office has any hopes of getting to the dance in 5 years, you'd better draft a QB and prepare him for the battles coming up. Build your team/defense around the new guy.

Stop it.....if Jackie Smith didnt drop it
If Dion didn't mug Irvin

All nonsense

The point is we were in a the game with a good chance to win. So to throw up the surrender flag about what you think would have happened based on last year not beating Green Bay is nonsense as well. Our D was better this year and you literally have no idea what could've happened.

Ironically, you criticize my "what if" scenario with your own. Take your own advice.

Classic....just classic.

"Alright....thumbs up....lets do this.....LEEERRROOOOYYY JEEENNNKKKIIINNNS!!!!"

Reminds me of our offseason plan last year. Screaming let's do this with Weeden as a backup and then run into a buzz saw.

WTH are you babbling about? We had leads in games last year..... Had chances to win had our D stopped anyone on multiple times. We can't stop anyone.... That is a PROVEN, on the field - FACT! We have no pass rush, no pass D, run D and turnovers.
