As mentioned above…if he’s fine not playing on an extension I’d be comfortable making that deal. He’s 31 but even at a diminished rate he’s still an absolute threat because of how high his ceiling was. Being able to be rid of the delay in 2 years and move on is appealing too.

He’s likely a guy that only plays 12 games a year but I’d much rather gamble on his upside than obj or cooks - 2 other receivers I feel we will go after again. Obj is an even bigger health gamble and cooks nor him are as big as a game changer still than Hopkins.
Ideally if we were making a big play move for a wr I’d go after evans- he only counts 14m for his new team and on the last year of a deal.

For me it’s 1) evans 2)Hopkins 3) cooks 4)obj….say this knowing we will get none of them lol but hey it’s the offseason

I don't think this is actually true.

He's coming off 2 underperforming seasons (one of which including a suspension) and his current extension actually hasn't even begun........ (his current 2 year 55-million-dollar extension hasn't even taken effect).

At the absolute best he could hope for a trade and then a 3rd year added.
I haven’t seen that reported anywhere…I think we make assumptions when we see receivers near the end of their deals on the trade market. The cards are entering a rebuild with their quarterback expected to miss maybe up to half of next year and I believe can save some cap space and get assets back by moving him.

It is very possible he could want a new deal but that’s not something I’ve seen reported yet

I'd be all for it but guessing the Cards are going to have to be willing to eat part of the contract. That was the issue with the Cooks deal at the deadline this year, I'm guessing Jerrys stance hasn't changed on that.

I haven't heard that either. But if I had to guess, I'd say he's looking for one last payday. His market value is listed at 23M. I don't know who will pay him that, but with 30 other teams out there, anything is possible.

Go read MMs most recent comments then try to tell me we are trading for a name receiver.

I’d say we aren’t.

He’ll be 31 and is injury prone. Just look at what he’s done the last two seasons. No thanks!

Well if they want to transfer him before June 1st and they are going to absorb most of the money left on his contract, which would be dead money of 22.6M in 2023 and 11.3M in 2024, I think it would be a very good option, since it would only cost 8.1M in 2023 and 14.9M in 2024 to whoever receives him, if he gets to 3/4 of the level he had, it would be something pretty good.

I'll get the paper work ready, he's exactly the guy we want lol
Is usually the type of player we go for, but according to Jerry he moved on from some players last year because of availability issues.

He played 9 games (6 were suspension) and averaged 80 yards a game on 7 catches. 717 yards on 64 catches. No issue if you say he’s gonna be injury prone but the production is fine.

Suspension or not he’s missed a number of games the past two seasons. He’s had less than 1300 yards and 11 TDs the past two seasons. His overall production hasn’t been good enough, especially for a player the Cardinals want at least a couple of picks for including a second rounder. He’s aging and has had injury issues. He’s clearly on the downside of his career, which is why the Cardinals are looking to move on from him.
