I dunno...I've never been crazy about him...

He had that very good year in 2002 when Hackett game planned well for him with a short passing game...but after that, he never performed well against good defenses.

And his arm strength is abysmal even before the two injuries. And he's fragile.

I hear where you're coming from regarding an incentive laden contract so if the risk is minimal, why not give it a shot...I just don't think he can be the answer.

Yep, too many questions and no upside really..I say we pass!

Pennington has always had a weak arm, two rotator cuff tears later there is no telling how his arm will be now.

If Chad is released from the Jets and if Romo and Henson are not the answer . Sign Him to a incentive based 3 year contract. Let him sit this year out so he can get healthy. When Bledsoe retires wala! We have our QB of the future. By then The O-Line should be in Order.

I wouldn't walk away from Pennington. I would run like hell.

Uh...there's a bit of a difference between the two you cited and Pennington...I seriously doubt the Colts or the Eagles would trade Manning or McNabb even up for Pennington.

The other two guys have the physical tools.

Pennington doesn't.

McNabb has obviously beaten good defenses or he wouldn't have been in the Championship game 4 times.

Manning is a choke artist. But has phenomenal skills.

Pennington..if you look at his last few seasons, he couldn't beat good teams DURING the season..let alone the playoffs.

except that all of the qb's you listed had superior passing skills to go with their good legs...none of them was one of these "option" qb's who could heave a ball here and there and get some results occassionally...Favre, Young, Montana and Staubach were tremendous passers who could throw with accuracy...Vince Young couldnt hit the broad side of a barn door more often than not...also see Kordell Stewart, Mike Vick, little brother Vick etc etc...
