Dear fans, what are your expectations for 2025?

Well they will likely have a softer schedule so Dak will get to pad some stats against bad teams, again.

Lads, next season looks grim. That is, if 2025 follows script of doing little in FA and in trades as in this season.

Some points for we handsome blokes and blokettes to consider:

*Our O line shows signs of stagnation, though the young ones show promise. Nothing good or great.
*Our triplets are now Dak/Lamb/Dowdle. A far cry from the original triplets.
*Our D? It is anchored by Parsons, Bland and Diggs. After that, the talent level drops to journeyman and never-were's.
*Special teams? We have the best in the NFL!!!
*Coaching is a mystery. But whether McCarthy resumes his Abrahamic slog through also-ran territory or Yoda wises up and hires Jon Gruden, next season won't be pretty.

With this in mind, I foresee another collapse or a middling season. No playoffs and another lousy draft pick at No. 15.

I expect 8-9.

What are your expectations, cerebral and lovable fans?
Same. Or maybe 9-8 but something around that. Talent wise the team is good enough the make the play offs. But it's not good enough to be able to ignore the schedule lottery.

But since this is all irrelevant I don't really care as long as Dak's here. We won't go anywhere with him in the play offs so the discussion about the amount of regular season wins is kinda superfluous.

Same old same old.

It comes down to if we are willing to restructure contracts, Dak, CD, and resign Micah early. Then be active in FA and draft best player available.

If not we will struggle to hang out at the rim.

as long as JJ is the GM....nothing will change

The pattern will continue. We will have a easier schedule. Which means we'll win games, some will think Jerry's on the right track, we'll crash and burn in the playoffs, and the excuse patterns will begin again.
What we need is a permanent intervention on the babbling scotch brain

It’s a great question but one I can’t come close to answering until we see:
  • Who will be the HC in 2025 and will the organizational function and structure stay exactly the same? (If so, I see no reason to believe much of anything of significance will change as far as team performance)
  • Will Parsons be signed to a new deal, for how much and when?
  • How will Dak and Cedee’s contracts be restructured in order to possibly create more cap space? (Unfortunately the clowns at the top of the organization don’t have a clue how to do this right)
  • What kind of draft haul will we have?
Plus a few more unanswered questions. I can commit to saying that without some changes in how the Jones boys function and operate, I see no reason to believe 2025 will be something more than what we’ve seen for three decades.

If we get another “rinse and repeat” season the only hope we have is for Lady Luck to have mercy on our souls and we catch lightening in a bottle in some unforeseen miracle. I’m not banking on that.
I think KMoore fixes our offense. The play calling suffered after KMoore left.

IF Parsons doesn’t hold out, they might push his contract offer into 2026.

They might leave Daks contract alone. They need the option of doing a Post June cut in March 2026.

Same thing for CD. Jerry likes to have the option to leave contracts after two seasons.

they have a lot of void years to cleanup next season too. Cooks, Martin, Dlaw

one more year of dead money for Gallup. 8M

its a mess.

If some of these young guys dont make big jumps in the offseason its more of the same.

2025 results would seem to depend heavily upon Dak and Diggs returning to form, along with other factors. If Mac returns, a new OC will probably be hired. Zimmer is replaced with a younger DC, maybe Harris. Except a couple shiny new toys on offense to be drafted and D largely addressed by bargain basement FAs. I expect Guyton to return as starting LT instead of moving him to RT and upgrading both OT positions.
Diggs may be cut. If so its a wash on his salary but we are free of him the last 2 years.

Duncan, I hear you. But IMO you can’t fix a lack of talent with scheme. You can’t fix this horrible culture with a guy like Kellen Moore. Hiring Kellen Moore without major changes would be a fresh coat of paint on the Titanic.

I can’t be excited about this team’s future without at least two of these three happening:
  • Major changes in how this GM operates by giving his HC more authority. (Highly unlikely)
  • Hiring a head coach that has the ability and authority to change and energize the team’s culture, discipline and scheme.
  • Adding a large influx of talent at multiple positions.
Hard to admit for us fans, but the Cowboys are clearly lacking the talent to compete for a championship.

If they sign Parsons to an extension, his cap number for 2025 drops.

They can restructure Lamb.

They’ll likely have moves to make but likely won’t because they love to dupe fans into thinking they have no cap space to sign anyone in FA.
10M in cap would allow them to sign several players to the league minimum.

likely the route they will follow.

most of the big $$$ UFAs will sign the first week or two in March.

our 2025 roster is going to have a lot of new players.

Diggs may be cut.
oh-that%27s-not-gonna-happen-brad.gif

Diggs…

Since his 2025 base is gtd, due to injury…

they might just sit and wait.

but that knee is jacked forever.

hes not gonna be elite. Odds are against it.

so…post June 1 cut. After two seasons, we are out of the deal.

Well with 27 free agents they have to sign several players. Average NFL salary is $3.2M, which would equal to $86.4M.

Stop the run at all costs. Gets old watching this team get shredded by good backs.

I would happily take John Gruden.
