Understood.

You think if things "go nicely" that they plan to give long term deal next year? Maybe even told him so?

I could see Dallas trying to extend him mid-season if things workout.

Please know what you're talking about before commenting.

Please enlighten me about where I'm mistaken. The NFL just filed suit to obtain access to all records pertaining to
Mr. Hardy. If the Commish finds a hint of wrongdoing, He and Mara will lower the boom on our Mr. Hardy.

If we have to wait till half the season is over, we might have found out that a youngster or two from last year might make the jump
and be the pass rusher we really want. Hardy to me is a progress stopper and I think we might have a couple of young lads
that might just step up.

lol....you need to provide examples to help your case. Like seriously. Who on earth are you talking about?

The GB game should be enough of a reason to want Hardy. If Hardy has to miss 2-6 games but is revving to go for the playoffs it's a game changer.

Oh god yes

Hardy, come mid season or whenever is a + where we currently have -

No one is just going to "come on" and make Hardy expendable so fast.

If someone does come on... We have two!

It's true that the Cowboys got Hardy but they also got him with strings attached:

- He's on a low-risk 1 year contract. If he somehow gets all the bonuses, the Cowboys will have a bidding war on his hands and may have to let him walk.
- Hardy will have been out of the game for almost a year, possibly more depending on the suspended games. Don't delude yourself thinking he's going to play at a high level right off the bat. OTAs and camp are going to help but he's got alot of work to do to get back to playing at a high level like before.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this move and I'm super stoked about Hardy but this deal really puts Hardy in the driver seat if he can live up to the bonuses.

I wouldn't be thumping my chest too much that we got Hardy and celebrating that our FA was a success because the NFL hasn't had a final word in yet and we still don't know what the schedule will look like w/ Hardy likely to miss games.

Depending on the length of his suspension it may take longer than that. If we are going to extend him I hope it gets done before the end of the season. Otherwise we might be back in the same position we were with Murray this year. I always lean towards the less drama situation.

And if he has a pedestrian year, we can re-sign him for cheaper.

It's a gamble no doubt. If you see signs of greatness, you extend him ASAP, before he explodes.

No, I'm not lazy. I have no clue as to what/who you are talking about. Who's progress would Greg Hardy stop?

I don't even know what player from whichever team you are referring to.

The same thing was said about Henry Melton, but the staff let him walk. If he has a pedestrian year why would you want to resign him?

Are we just getting caught up with past accomplishments?

I hope he can regain his PB form and put us in bind on trying to keep him, personally.

I know you were completely wrong about signing Hardy and you have a mental block against him but calling him a progress stopper, really? DLaw, Gardner or whatever DE might draft can only learn from Hardy and aspire to reach his level.

Everyone said Stephen was cheap. They misunderstood what efficient meant when he said it.

We will one day again sign a free agent to a big deal. We just will try to be prudent enough to avoid signing someone to a dumb deal.

Not everyone. Generalizing is ugly.

Because hopefully it would be due to rust, not injury. Plus he plays a highly sought after position.

Didnt Crawford make Melton expendable anyhow?

Oh no...An all pro DE is going to stop Gardner's progress. *shudders*

If the Commish finds a hint of wrongdoing, He and Mara will lower the boom on our Mr. Hardy.

He'll need help from the 8th Circuit Court of Appeal to apply the new DV policy to an incident that occurred while the old DV policy was in effect. As it stands, "lowering the boom" will likely result in a two game suspension at most. Even if The Commish gets the 8th Circuit to overturn Doty's ruling in the Peterson case on appreal, a first time offender under the new DV policy gets 6 games. The 8 games you suggested are a fiction of your imagination.

If they had given Melton a 1 year deal without the option they would have gotten a comp pick but with the option they had to cut him which negates any comp pick.
