I'll revisit after the year....

I'm all for signing Hardy..... It's a great value

Now let's hope this plays out over the next 9 months:
1. Dez signs a 5yr deal that is justified for both sides.....15mil/yr is crazy maybe $35mil guarantee gets his attention
2. Romo's contract finally pays dividends.....20mil QB's lead their teams to SB victories
3. Hardy plays with abandonment, keeps clean and signs a 5yr deal during the season
4. We hit the draft again with Will leading the way....I see a Stephen & Will future in good hands
5. Keep throwing good bodies at the D
6. We all talk about a SB victory & how this franchise has turned things around..
7. Everybody WANTS to play for the Cowboys!

There has been a big debate in regards to the Cowboys signing any top rated Free agents. The debate is over. The Cowboys signed the #1 DE and probably a top 3 overall free agent. The cost could be up to 13M for 1 year.

This in no way takes back the thousands of hate posts I had to read for an entire week around here. My gosh people were jumping off of ledges right and left. The overreaction crowd made life pretty miserable around here for the clearer thinking majority of CZ.

Everyone said Stephen was cheap. They misunderstood what efficient meant when he said it.

We will one day again sign a free agent to a big deal. We just will try to be prudent enough to avoid signing someone to a dumb deal.

Were there some sig wagers on this issue? Who was it that guaranteed it would not happen?

I love this offseason! I said before FA started that if they signed Greg Hardy I don't care how many free agents they lose as long as they franchise Dez.

I'm OK with the roster as is including RB. My biggest concern is now CB.

@LittleD

I'm happy so far....but you have to be kidding yourself if you think the Cowboys are set at RB at this point. Don't get me wrong; I don't mind them rolling the dice on McFadden; he is worth a look. But I will be disappointed if they don't draft one of the following four: Gurley, Gorden, Ajayi, or Coleman.

I didn't guarantee it wouldn't happen but I did go record that I would be surprised if JG brought him in. I stand corrected but I'm happy so it's all good.

I'm sure they will draft a RB but it might not be as early as people want.

I certainly don't mind admitting when I'm wrong but, this is no big win for the Cowboys. He's on a 1 yr deal only and no obligation or hold
that can keep him longer. If the NFL gains access to all the court & medical records, he might be suspended longer that anyone thinks because
the Commish might decide to make an issue out of Mr. Hardy. So if he's suspended for 6 or 8 games, is he really going to be that much help
next season. We've now tied up a lot of cap space on a dubious character who might be a great football player but not much else.
So, if it works out for the Boys...great! I have my doubts though I know full well I'm in the minority here.

He's literally only making vet min $750 thousand with $0 guaranteed and must earn the rest of the contract but people will try and say bad contract because that's what they do.....complain not matter what

I understand that but if he only gets to play in 8 games what is the big reason to sign him at all. If he gets in trouble again he would
most likely be gone for the year. I would rather spend my efforts signing someone not as well known who might be able to
play a role in every game.

I'm happy with the signing. Would have liked a greater investment in Hardy but that may not have been possible. As it stands, this was a bit of a hybrid signing: depending upon how much he plays, it will either turn out to be a budget signing with little impact or (hopefully, and more likely) a high-priced, impact signing. Viewed in that light both sides of the debate ended up being right.

I wanted Hardy.... Check
I wanted Gurley...... Still pending
Draft defense after that, BPA but consider need..
We have all the pressure off of us in the draft except at RB Get Gurley..... I can dream right?

It's a worthwhile dream. One that I share. I say go for it.

The GB game should be enough of a reason to want Hardy. If Hardy has to miss 2-6 games but is revving to go for the playoffs it's a game changer.

If we have to wait till half the season is over, we might have found out that a youngster or two from last year might make the jump
and be the pass rusher we really want. Hardy to me is a progress stopper and I think we might have a couple of young lads
that might just step up.
