So, I am curious... what made you decide to drop this info today? It sounds like you have known this info for a while... Was there a catalyst for this revelation to pop out today? Inquiring minds wanna know!

Everlastingxxx;2032011 said:I don’t see it happening. Detroit wont let him go that easy, now if he gets injured next year and misses most of the season, then yea, they will part ways. The 28th pick isnt enough anyways. They would want 2 first rounders at least. But basically they could have him for two more years and thats a long time in the NFL. Sorry, not going to happen. This isnt madden football.

Roy Williams is not a free agent and therefore where he would like to play is completely meaningless. He has no say so whatsoever where Detroit would ship him too.
The other problem I have with this is if Detroit wanted to move him why not field offers like the Eagles are doing for Shepherd??? Get 6 or 7 offers in, weigh them, and then make the best move for your team. Why would they settle for the 28th pick in the draft when I am pretty sure the Eagles would give #19 to them, for example..
just get Romo to re-do his contractMadCow;2032028 said:Isn't cap space an issue with a move like this? Who would be traded and/or released to allow it to happen?
Hostile;2031896 said:This is probably a mistake on my part, but I've made them before. I doubt another one is going to kill me. Let me be very clear up front any deal for Roy Williams could very well fall apart. It may not happen. I believe it will.
I suspect that even though I posted that in bold red it will not be heeded.
Back in September I said this in a thread about whether or not we could get Larry Fitzgerald.
I then said this.
The friend I am talking about is not a friend of mine, but rather a friend of Roy Williams. He is a member here, but he does not post. very often. He likes this forum and the members very much.
Now let me explain. Roy Williams is a Dallas Cowboys fan. He grew up in Odessa, Texas and all he ever talked about was playing WR for the Cowboys. When Roy was in his last year at Texas he went to Training Camp and asked Stephen and Jerry to draft him if he was available. They gave him some sweats and he wore them the rest of his time there. He loves this team. I'll get back to that.
Roy will be an Unrestricted Free Agent at the end of 2008. For 2008 the Detroit Lions have $15 million in dead money. Much of it tied up in WR. That goes away in 2009 and they could re-sign him in 2009. That may be too late. They could Franchise him and hope to get him to agree to a long term contract. If they do this, it will mean they have a tremendous amount of money tied up in WR. It is a huge gamble on their part.
Ultimately I think it is still very likely we will get him for the 28th pick in this year's Draft. If not, I still expect him to come here in 2009. As I said, this could all fall apart. If they offer him an insane amount of money he may take it.
Where it stands right now is that last year, going into his final year and knowing that they Lions had just drafted Calvin Johnson, Roy told his agent, "get me to Dallas."
That is the reason I have been so sure this would happen. I believe he wants to come here that badly. Detroit has the monkey wrench that could derail this. Roy does enjoy the Lions and hsi teammates and he is loyal. Jerry Jones is another person who could derail this. Why do I say that? Let's not kid ourselves, Jerry is watching very closely to see how far McFadden will fall. Once he's off the board I think Detroit's phone will ring and so will Arizona's.
From there it comes down to which of them is most motivated.
Now you know....................the rest of the story.

Roy and me go way back. Back to that scuzzy but tough little district that includes Abilene, Big Spring, Midland-Odessa and San Angelo.
Roy listens to me and I am telling him right now to do the right thing and listen to Jerra and to make me his agent.
If Roy Makes me his agent, free beer and burritos all day for all on the day of the signing.
I am also Tiger Woods.
Hos: If Roy falls to us via FA, that would be sweet. He's an instant threat to opposing teams, not like a draft pick with "potential" and not like that so-so receiver Crayfish.
Too, getting R.W. takes the pressure off of Jerra in getting a must-have second WR in the draft. Crayfish was a mistake. He has second-team skills and is vastly overrated. I like Hurd and what Stanback might one day do. But we are stuck with Crayfish for now.
Roy Williams belongs in Dallas!!!!
If Pac-Man and RW get here by whatever means, this team will go from playoff contenders to Super Bowl contenders.
