The other problem I have with this is if Detroit wanted to move him why not field offers like the Eagles are doing for Shepherd??? Get 6 or 7 offers in, weigh them, and then make the best move for your team. Why would they settle for the 28th pick in the draft when I am pretty sure the Eagles would give #19 to them, for example..

Expecting that Detroit mess of an organization to think things through and act logically is expecting too much.
I hope RW does come to us without us having to burn a draft pick this year, but I know that would be difficult. A deferred draft pick (next year) would be good.

lol man ya'll are crazy. There's a reason Crayton played more than Hurd.

Dont get me wrong, I like Hurd, but nothing more than a 4th. Crayton needs to go back to a 3rd, and Hurd back to a 4th.

This is probably a mistake on my part, but I've made them before. I doubt another one is going to kill me. Let me be very clear up front any deal for Roy Williams could very well fall apart. It may not happen. I believe it will.

I suspect that even though I posted that in bold red it will not be heeded.

Back in September I said this in a thread about whether or not we could get Larry Fitzgerald.

I then said this.

The friend I am talking about is not a friend of mine, but rather a friend of Roy Williams. He is a member here, but he does not post. very often. He likes this forum and the members very much.

Now let me explain. Roy Williams is a Dallas Cowboys fan. He grew up in Odessa, Texas and all he ever talked about was playing WR for the Cowboys. When Roy was in his last year at Texas he went to Training Camp and asked Stephen and Jerry to draft him if he was available. They gave him some sweats and he wore them the rest of his time there. He loves this team. I'll get back to that.

Roy will be an Unrestricted Free Agent at the end of 2008. For 2008 the Detroit Lions have $15 million in dead money. Much of it tied up in WR. That goes away in 2009 and they could re-sign him in 2009. That may be too late. They could Franchise him and hope to get him to agree to a long term contract. If they do this, it will mean they have a tremendous amount of money tied up in WR. It is a huge gamble on their part.

Ultimately I think it is still very likely we will get him for the 28th pick in this year's Draft. If not, I still expect him to come here in 2009. As I said, this could all fall apart. If they offer him an insane amount of money he may take it.

Where it stands right now is that last year, going into his final year and knowing that they Lions had just drafted Calvin Johnson, Roy told his agent, "get me to Dallas."

That is the reason I have been so sure this would happen. I believe he wants to come here that badly. Detroit has the monkey wrench that could derail this. Roy does enjoy the Lions and hsi teammates and he is loyal. Jerry Jones is another person who could derail this. Why do I say that? Let's not kid ourselves, Jerry is watching very closely to see how far McFadden will fall. Once he's off the board I think Detroit's phone will ring and so will Arizona's.

From there it comes down to which of them is most motivated.

Now you know....................the rest of the story.

The problem I have with this is this. You always say that we will not go after Dmac unless he falls. You reason on this is becasue JJ says so. Yet the Lions have said many times RW isnt going anywhere but you think or heard this isnt true from someone other than the Lions organization. When media member says they have a source saying they hear we're trading up high for Dmac you say you will believe when you hear from JJ. But you belive this without it coming from the Lions. What gives?

Just to make it clear. I am not a Dmac fan and do not want to trade up for him.

I am in favor of this trade as I think it makes us a better team, and also puts pressure on the second and third cornerbacks. Plus T.O. isn't getting any younger. The fact he loves the Cowboys is just a bonus.

I think Boldin is a very good receiver, but doesn't have enough speed to stretch the field enough to be a true #1 receiver. Roy Williams can stretch the field once T.O. is gone better than Boldin can. I'm not sure there is a lot of difference in Crayton and Boldin. Crayton is a poor man's Boldin.

You are missing the whole point of the original post. Hos highlighted that it might not happen and yet you are still harping on it. We get it. It might not happen. Hos said it may not happen. Hos is trying to give you the benefit of some knowledge which he has which might be of interest to you.

I don't know Hos personally, and have never met him. I can tell you first hand that he knows what he is talking about, and I, for one take him at face value. He is kinda like E.F. Hutton .... when he speaks, I definitely listen.

Thanks for the info Hos, from those of us who actually appreciate it. :laugh2:

"Let me be very clear up front any deal for Roy Williams could very well fall apart. It may not happen. I BELIEVE IT WILL."

That is his quote. He thinks it will. Again, why? He beleives this becasue he heard it from a friend of RW not the anyone in the Lions organization. Yet when someone in the media or where ever says the same thing about Dmac he doenst believe it because JJ say he's not.

Still harping on it? That was my only post. I go back to the DMN MB with Hos from about 7 yrs ago. Dont always agree with what he says but enjoy reading his post. I pretty sure Hos knows I'm not trying to attack him. It is sweet though that you run to his defense.:laugh2:

If you're not sure, let me be the one to assure you that there is a tremendous difference between Crayton and Boldin. It's not even close.

He has really big feet.
Do those big feet help him run faster than a 4.58 ?

Also, has anyone tried getting him in Madden, if so how did it work out ?

You like Hurd over Crayton? Ha!

You must have loved the last game Crayton played.

But re Hurd (the real next generation) that is just my opinion. Hurd does not run at the mouth like Crayfish and finishes his routes.

And Lastly, I heard we were allowed to have opinions, yes?

Hos, I'm sure most on here welcome this trade if it happens, and I agree there's a good chance of it coming to fruition. The only thing that concerns me is what happens if another team w/ a higher draft pick comes into the picture. I cannot see the Lions (even though Millen's a moron) taking a lower pick just to please Roy! I say this because if he's really available for a 1st rounder I'd assume that the Cowboys wouldn't be the only ones interested.
Any other team would still have to work a deal with him. If he leaves Detroit, I can't see him going anywhere else long term. Not even Houston just to be in Texas.

Even with the bold bright red disclaimer, someone wants to poke holes in the opinion. I just don't get it.

I, for one, love hearing any tidbit of inside information I can get this time of year. The whole thing seems to make sense. Williams wanting to be here would definitely help get a contract negotiated.

I do not watch a lot of college ball. Heck, I really only watch the Boys so I don't even keep up with the other teams. What kind of character does Roy Williams have? What kind of difference can he make?

I'm not trying to poke holes in anything. I love hearing any tidbits as well. I believe Hos is telling the truth. I'm just asking him why he believes this will happen but not Dmac.

Again I think this has a good chance of happening and I hope it does. I also agree I dont think the Dmac trade will happen and I hope it doesnt. It just doesnt have anything to do with JJ saying it wont.
