Hey Hos,
So, I am curious... what made you decide to drop this info today? It sounds like you have known this info for a while... Was there a catalyst for this revelation to pop out today? Inquiring minds wanna know!
You know Wimbo, I honestly don't know why I decided to share this today.

I know some people will be appreciative of the info. I also know some people are going to act like jerks when this stuff gets shared. I saw it with Brownsugar and I've seen it with stuff I share. I've seen it when other people share stuff too.

Back when we got Drew Henson I knew it was going to happen, right down to the compensation. I shared that info with Juke99, Verdict, Dale, and Chief. Like me, they all were Henson fans. I never shared it with the forum. Then when it happened, exactly as I told them, Juke posted a thread about it. The other guys backed him up and said I had indeed let them know. It royally pissed three guys off.

One of them actually PMed me to ask why I hadn't shared the info with him. As I said, I shared with the few guys I knew who liked the kid. Those three guys still hate me to this day, and say all kinds of crap about me on another forum. Recently one of them posted a comment aimed at me about Spenser Larsen, the ILB from Arizona that I like so much.

This stems from the fact that I live in Tucson, Arizona and have the temerity to tell people that I've known a few Wildcat players. For the record I have never said that I know Spencer Larsen. I just happen to like the way the kid plays football. So they invent ways to say I am a liar.

Another time I shared stuff like this was the day Brandon Everage worked out for the Cowboys. I knew he was in Oxnard even before Dale, who was an intern for DC.com at the time. Those guys all say I lied about how I found out. Yet they have no explanation for how I knew.

These "backfires" for lack of a better term just make me very reluctant sometimes to share info when someone shares it with me. Even if they tell me I can share. All it turns into is another reason for some to act like they're hurt because I got the information and they didn't.

Today, I just decided to share this. I already had in a minor way and dropped some hints now and then. But as to why today, I honestly just don't know.

I'm not trying to poke holes in anything. I love hearing any tidbits as well. I believe Hos is telling the truth. I'm just asking him why he believes this will happen but not Dmac.

Again I think this has a good chance of happening and I hope it does. I also agree I dont think the Dmac trade will happen and I hope it doesnt. It just doesnt have anything to do with JJ saying it wont.

Perhaps he doesn't have any inside information about Dmac to influence his opinion.

Good stuff Hos. Thanks for sharing it.

I found it a little humorous that you threw in the caveat of Jerry watching to see what happens with McFadden. You are one that's been all over anyone who mentions McFadden and Dallas, but even you wonder about Jerry's private lust for him. :) (Just picking with you).

I wonder how far a "drop" McFadden would have to make for Jerry to pull the trigger on a deal? Yesterday I heard KC's player rep on Jim Rome's show and when asked what he thought the Chiefs would do with the 5th pick he said he hoped they would trade it to Dallas for more picks if McFadden slips past the Raiders at #4. I don't know that a trade with the Chiefs would happen, but it was interesting that almost everyone in the league mentions Jerry and McFadden.
I'm tired of the McFadden threads, but not so foolish that I can't see that if McFadden falls it could change a lot of things.

If he falls...

That caveat is the big difference between me and some people who can't talk about anything else and who if he ends up here will be insufferable.

Thanks for the candor bro. So is your take on that that if the moeny is even he would choose Dallas or would he possibly give somewhat of a discount?

Hos, thanks for the information. It's always appreciated.

I'd love to see Roy Williams come here, and I also believe that there is a shot. We'll just have to wait and see how the Lions want to handle this though.

As far as McFadden is concerned, I wonder what Jerry's cut-off is? I don't think he would want to move up to #1 or anything, but what about 5? I just wonder what he's looking at as a target number.

I'm very excited about this R. Williams deal and the A. Jones deal. I truely hope we pull them both off.

But I have concerns.

I live in the Philly area. There has been a lot of talk about the need to sign or deal for a star WR. Moss, Fitzgerald, R. Williams. Reid came out and admitted that they did make a pitch for Moss, so we know this isnt just sports talk radio speculation.

The threat of them getting R. Williams over us is real!

The problem I have with this is this. You always say that we will not go after Dmac unless he falls. You reason on this is becasue JJ says so. Yet the Lions have said many times RW isnt going anywhere but you think or heard this isnt true from someone other than the Lions organization. When media member says they have a source saying they hear we're trading up high for Dmac you say you will believe when you hear from JJ. But you belive this without it coming from the Lions. What gives?

Just to make it clear. I am not a Dmac fan and do not want to trade up for him.
Unrestricted Free Agency, salary cap, renegotiations, dead money, Franchise tag, and % of money tied up in one position all play a part. I pay attention to these things very closely.

I do not believe for one minute that Detroit can hang on to him and I believe they know this. I think they'll be a lot more motivated to move him than you think they will.

Can they do it? Yeah, they can. The can franchise him in 2009 and roll the dice that they can re-sign him. It will take a lot of money and it will prevent them from doing much else for a period of about 4 years.

Too risky and they ultimately know it.

don't forget the fact that the Lions GM is a fool.

Unfortunately, this is also predicated on Lions brass which is an incompetent lot, so who knows, right?

I still say the best way to make this happen is to somehow sneak our Roy Williams into their camp and sneak their's into ours...RW was going to change his number here anyway, just change it to #11 :D

I think a player who might make this more of an option is Jerod Mayo. The Lions supposedly really like him, and he might be available where Dallas picks. Marinelli could finally get his Tampa 2 MLB, if so.

Well thank you for sharing. I really hope your right. He would be awesome. I would easily give up either first round pick for him.

I think if we somehow get him and Jones this will be one scary football team. With very few holes an a lot of weapons.

I believe he would take less to play here. He'll get paid either way.

"Let me be very clear up front any deal for Roy Williams could very well fall apart. It may not happen. I BELIEVE IT WILL."

That is his quote. He thinks it will. Again, why? He beleives this becasue he heard it from a friend of RW not the anyone in the Lions organization. Yet when someone in the media or where ever says the same thing about Dmac he doenst believe it because JJ say he's not.

Still harping on it? That was my only post. I go back to the DMN MB with Hos from about 7 yrs ago. Dont always agree with what he says but enjoy reading his post. I pretty sure Hos knows I'm not trying to attack him. It is sweet though that you run to his defense.:laugh2:

The great thing about a message board is that it consists of large numbers of members who all have an interest in the same thing. In this case, the Dallas Cowboys. I am quite sure that many people who are members of this board are deterred from posting useful, relevant, timely info here due to posts like yours. You have the right to your opinion, You have the right to post it.

I'm sure Hos is thick skinned enough that he will continue to speak his mind. Others may not be so willing to do so.

I never said they wouldnt move him. I'm actually agreeing with you on this one. Not only do I hope this happens. I think it will happen. I also agree with all your reasons why it will happen.

The thing I was asking and trying to make a point on was the Lions organization has said that they would not do it. Yet you still believe they will. JJ said he wont trade up high for Dmac. In quite of few post I've seen you use that for your reasoning on why we wont trade up for Dmac. I'm not saying this is your only reason but I've seen you use it more than once.

I just dont believe anything GM's are saying at this time of the year. I cant see why anyone would use the words of a GM this time of year for their reasoning why something will or will not happen. If you think this trade will happen it obvious you think GM's arent being truthful all the time. That includes JJ.

Again, I'm all for RW trade and I believe it will happen. I'm not for a Dmac trade into the top 7 and I hope it wont happen. Just dont understand why anyone would believe what a GM says at this time of the year.

I dont think my post will stop anyone from posting useful info. Your giving me way to much credit. If it does, they have issues beacause I'm not a very good poster. My typing skills suck. So all they have to do is keep posting long post and I'll give up.:)

and I'll tell you why. I live in Michigan and everyone hates Millen and Lions Mgmt. so much they'd never let it out that they're shopping RW. They KNOW he won't re-sign with them........only scary part is someone like philly giving them their #1 pick. My god men, if we could get pac, RW, best avail. RB at #22 I'd be pretty giddy.....don't know how much I'd watch or care abou the rest of the draft quite frankly..........:laugh1:  :) :laugh2:
