GET OFF THE CROSS! WE NEED THE WOOD!!!!!!!!!!:lmao2:

It wouldn't have been near as funny if not for the pic there at the end... nice touch...

I remember watching Roy Williams playing for the Midland Lee Rebels in class 4-5A ball before his days at UT and now Detriot. Sure would be nice to have Roy back in Texas with the Dallas Cowboys.

Thanks Hos for posting about this. Draft day certainly won't be dull with all of these rumors and possibilities swirlin' about. My mind goes to the ESPN fantasy football commercial where the guy can't pronounce Houshmandzadeh's name but the then says "Championship" after the pick.

If we get Roy Williams on draft day, I'll sit there in my easy chair and say with satisfaction,,,,"Championship!"

No you don't. He didn't play for the Midland Lee Rebels.

I remember watching him in 4-5a football, and watched him play a basketball game too, oh and compete at the San Angelo Relays.

All for Odessa Permian. :)

That's exactly what I would like to happen. Then we draft Mendenhall.

I was hoping that our 2 1sts and a 3rd would get the deal done.

RWilliams & Detroit's 1st (15th) for Dallas 2 firsts and a third would be too good to be true. Especially since the Cowboys need that 2nd for a RB, b/c I would rather use the 15th for DRC, or even Branden Albert.

Instead of a 2nd/3rd, I wonder if the Lions would take a player like Marcus Spears. They need a starting DT to replace Rogers.

Yep! It was the Mojo. He's also cousins with Lloyd Hill who was an All American Receiver at Tech, who won the mythical national championship at Permian. And yes he was a stud....I think he high jumped like 6'11" or 7', something crazy like that. Anyway, would be stoked to get him, but we still have to watch out for Philly.

Well we do need a vet WR by any means neccessary if we don't have the opportunity to get a true playmaker in the draft. When I say playmaker, I don't just mean DMac, but also McKelvin or Mendenhall. Trading our picks doesn't have to mean that we trade both for one pick, we could trade for 2 picks in different positions.

Whether we trade for Roy or not, I'm not happy with our current positions. What might disappoint me more is if we don't trade a pick for something, whether it is Roy, more picks, trading up or down, whatever. I want a trade, period.

I think the deal is going to go more like Detroit's 15th and Dallas' 22nd (or 28th) for Oakland's fourth, so the Lions can draft Darren McFadden.

We've heard so much about Jerry having "plans" and his emphasis on getting a WOW player that I think the deal is basically completed. However, Detroit is saying it isn't interested in trading Williams because a) the deal is contingent on McFadden making it to the fourth pick and b) the Lions can't tip their hand for fear that someone will move in front of Oakland to get him.

I'm really hoping we land RW..............injury to TO and we're screwed...

I think that's what killed the end of our season. From the minute he went down, we were no longer scary. I don't think he or Glenn were 100% in the playoff loss. They say different, but I don't buy it.

The rest of our WRs just don't measure up.

well, I live here in Odessa he did play for Mojo..

He wants to play for the cowboys, all his family are rabid cowboy fans..

He's a class kid and we need to bring him back home to Texas (by god)

Cedric Benson played for Midland Lee....:)

It was pretty clear we lost our sizzle when TO wasn't 100% and I don't buy any of the bull they were saying otherwise either.

My patience with our lesser WR's to step up into a solid contributors isn't what it used to be either.

Hurd is an OK #3, but Austin is Randall Williams part deux. Stanback is still a huge question mark. So we need a real threat as a WR.

Surprised how little Roy Williams as a player has been discussed. I've seen little of him in the pros but was very impressed with him at Texas stadium in the 2006 finale.

Would like to read a few critiques of his game from members who believe they know it.

Well since everyone wants to play in Dallas this doesnt matter much.

The most interesting thing about this is two-fold.

1. Dallas media, including the owner himself, keeps talking about going after a legitimate big-time wide receiver.
2. The Detroit papers continue to talk about this. They always point out that the franchise is saying no, but they also mention that the Lions would be foolish to not consider a deal.

This thing will play out on the first day of the draft, and I won't be surprised no matter what happens. But the more this gets talked about, the more likely I think all of it is...

It makes perfect sense. We need another WR. Getting a rookie is 90% unlikely to really help us this year. Rookie WRs just do not normally excel the first year. We need someone to take the heat off of TO. If we don't get someone who can or someone doesn't step up this year we will have a hard time repeating last year excepting the playoff thing.

Detroit risks losing RW if they don't do a deal. He obviously wants out and they don't have the money to pay him.

Dallas needs another WR this year. Yeah, we still need to draft WRs so I'm not saying we don't need to draft a WR. Maybe not in the first though.

I don't mind too much giving up two high picks to move up to 15. It just makes me nervous because that's getting close to DMac and I don't want to spend too much to get him. I've seen mocks where he falls to 12 or so but I don't see that having near the chance as going 5-10. What does it cost us to move from 15 to 5? 15 to 10?
