Deebo Samuel traded to Washington

He has averaged a bit over 200 yards rushing a year in his career. Last year he had 139 yards.

Just want folks to keep his “running back” status in perspective
Like I said he’s been washed for some time. I don’t think people realize the career he’s had.

If you’re an NFL GM what would you rather do….

Option A - trade a 1st round pick for Deebo and his contract

Option B - Negotiate in free agency with a Stephon Diggs/amari cooper/Chris Godwin type and try to sign one without giving up any draft picks

I think this is only a miss for Jerry if they don’t participate in free agency. I’ll wait before bashing him here.
Option C

See holes in the roster and do nothing

A 5th rounder and 21 million dollars for a guy who peaked three years ago.

Are you seriously saying you would have done this?
Don't you know? Anyone the Cowboys don't trade for is future Hall of Famer.

Most here also don't watch the other teams and just know his name. Nothing about him being in decline and making +$20m/yr.

Washington not really hurting for cap space. All they traded was a 5th round pick, he played 15 games each the last two seasons, Washington probably wont rush him like the 49ers did. He'll be the #2 receiver, who is better than Cooks or Mingo. Fact is, Washington won on this deal
Isn’t he about a quarter of their cap room?

SF going WR in the 1st round.
WAS got better today w/Deebo, and I think they add another WR or TE. Also, they'll draft a RB.

Meanwhile, Capboy can't chew gum and walk at the same time...real busy trying to sign Osa and DLaw when the numbers for those contracts have been know. Sign the guys or move on, but stop taking all offseason to do some easy ish.

I actually agree with you. He has been average at best the past 3 seasons. He is going to be expensive for his production. I do think Washington will play him exclusively in the slot. He does accel at RAC. And he will take pressure off of Terry. Again. We have the cap space to take the chance. A good rookie QB contract. Why not. Give it a go and see what happens.

Mingo and Deebo is apple and oranges. One is on a rookie contract. The other is due $21m and will be looking for more. That’s the difference.
It’s common sense. I hate when people do that. Like you can say the Mingo trade was stupid but to pretend like these moves weren’t influenced by salary is just being dishonest.

Aye and for the record I 100 percent understand why you guys did it. I don’t think the Cowboys had that luxury with our holes. This would’ve been a bad move for Dallas. For Commanders who have the salary and have to spend? I get it. Especially already having McClaurin and I’m sure you guys probably go receiver in the draft at some point.

Y'all know Washington doesn't need deebo to be all world right

This move makes them better because they have a respectable threat outside of mclaurin which they didn't have

Deebo getting 700 yards or heck even 600 opens up Terry to get 1700

Dallas going to be looking up at Philthy and the Commadors for a long time

To be fair, the only reason that Washington can afford to rent Deebo for a year is because their QB is on a rookie salary for at least the next two seasons.

Jayden Daniels has the 9th highest cap hit for Washington in 2025. Putting it in perspective, Dorrance Armstrong and Tyler Biadasz are the 7th and 8th highest cap hit in 2025.

That's a good move for WAS but they have a young, elite, developing QB on a rookie deal. We have a broken down, deteriorating has been who's already sucking up so much cap, and we are already paying CD, so I'm ok with it.
